I've drank here quite a few times. The staff is always quick and friendly, and they have lychee drinks, which gives them an extra point from this southeast asian. Other than that, what can I say about Pod that isn't obvious from looking? Oh right, they serve "Asian Fusion" food. In PODS! I shit you not. Little tapas sized dishes circulate on a conveyor belt for you to dim-sum, brody, grab, claim, or snatch - whatever verb you prefer, for that particular part of the restaurant (the sushi bar? or sushi conveyor belt? I'm not sure what you'd call it) you kind of just get what you want and eat it right there. There are tables where you can sit down and order. I've never really done that, so I can't comment. I'm sure it's pleasant. Now that I think about it, the only time I've actually eaten here was for all you can eat sushi. Don't get me wrong, the sushi here is better than a run-of-the-mill shop, and there was all of it I could eat. However, I would probably not do this again because I could go to one of my preferred sushi joints and get as much as I should allow myself to eat for about the same price. On an aside, Pod's interior affected me in such a way that I actually took it as an inspiration for a setting in one of my stories. I don't HATE the look. It's just not for me. Or any of my male characters: "Everything was white, bathed in a pale red glow by dim sconces that lined the walls at shoulder height, demarcated by floor-length windows at regular intervals. Some of the panels lit up and changed color like a disco floor as people walked across the room. Personally, King would have left out the panels and kept the disco. He was partial to wide collars and flared slacks. However, he was not particularly partial to Cube. If an iPod were susceptible to crack addiction, King and his coworkers stumbled upon the botched abortion of its crack-lovechild. The decorations were far too loud for him to feel comfortable. In a place where everything stood up and screamed "Look at me!" King felt decidedly out of place - and not in the fun, interesting way where he could leverage his uniqueness in conversation. This was plain, old, useless high school awkwardness. At least the music was acceptable." And that's how I feel about the decor. Other than that, this place is alright by me. Pro-tip: Try the ginger rum shots. They taste much better than they sound.

So this is my tried and true favorite bar in philadelphia.  I have to say I'm in love with Reese and Leo.  My hands down two favorite bartenders in this fine city.  Reese, he's the sweetest guy you'll ever meet, gives great service, and says "right on."  Leo, is well Leo, he's kind of a dick to others, but we get along swimmingly and I adore him.  The food here is eehhh, but they serve till 2 a.m. so who cares and the beer is pretty all right.  All in all a damn good bar.

Why does Fluid only have 5 reviews!??? Fluid has remained one of the consistently reliable clubs in Philadelphia for over ten years. That's quite a feat! Questlove has spun here occasionally for several years. B-boys used to frequent this place. At most clubs, I'm usually very much on the floor but here I actually preferred to hang back and watch the fantastic dancers and the styling folks who tended to pop in here. Honestly, I tend to associate Philadelphia's historic DJ culture with Fluid more so than any other club in Philadelphia. This may or may not be the case today but, from its inception, important DJs have either spun at or attended Fluid's parties. Besides, it has put a lot of thought and effort into its decor (which I quite like), which is more than what I can say of most clubs in Philadelphia. I hope that I can find more/up-to-date reviews of Fluid and its regular parties on rateclubs when I next visit Philly.
