One of the best meals I've had but it was a long time ago and I was a lot younger so who knows if I'd think the same thing now but incredible. Need to remember to go back. Just thought about it while watching Iron chef

I have retired from serious nightly clubbing for a few years now, but it's funny how little things change. The young'ns with hot bods giggling and flirting with the bouncers, slurring speech, uneven steps. The dudes, while witnessing the short skirts in groups stumbling inside, wait anxiously outside, half hating not knowing the owner, half hating having to bribe the power-tripping bouncer. Even then, one dirty look, one pair of sneakers, you are out. Inside, shit will happen. Someone will serve you a weak drink, someone will step on your already in pain toes until they bleed. Someone obnoxious will hit on you, someone pretty will reject you. You may get elbowed, you may get into a cat fight. You snicker at the quality of the clubbers there: too ugly! You complain about the ladies dancing in a circle who are oblivious to the social aspect of a club. Go mingle! But all in all, you can't really judge a club on these aspects. As much as they want to promote their club as a fantasy venue where all women are gorgeous, all men are rich and sophisticated and occasionally modelesque, they have no control over the crowd. The irony is that the clubs don't provide the people, yet that's the single most important thing on which people judge. What you CAN judge though: is the line speedy? Is the bouncer letting people freeze outside to create an illusion there is a line? Did the bouncer let in creepy perverts? are the bartenders speedy? is the space good for moving around? Is there a smoke room so smokers don't scatter outside and take over the sidewalk? Is there good ventilation? Does the DJ play good music? I think Harlot does well on these marks. We went early and weren't on the list but got in for free quickly. Although we are a group of attractive women for a bachelorette party, I have known clubs that would reject us or make us pay. I especially appreciate the fact that it was airy inside. I was sweaty and I had 20 drinks poured on me, but I wasn't dying from suffocation as I normally feel in other clubs. As for the crowd, it's older and diverse, which I liked. I didn't feel like an ultra old bachelorette amongst a group of underaged hookers.

I love the victorian setting of this place, i felt out of place in my 21st century clothing. I saw leona naess play here a few years ago. before the show she was hanging out at the bar, i was too shy to go up to her and tell her how awesome her music is.
