One of the best nights of my life was last Sunday at this place. Mos Def performed. The venue was basically a medium-sized restaurant with a small stage in the middle. Tickets for a table were only $55 each. Coolest thing being 2 feet away from Mos! Will be back if there's another good show. Food and drinks are a little pricey so i'd go there on a full stomach and just order a drink or two if you're only there for the music.

the front of this place is super cool, textured velvet wallpaper, nice bartenders, and a good selection of Ethiopian beer. They took so long to seat us that we didn't make the all you can eat veggie combo cut off time, but we were still well feed for not too much cash. The back eating area is a little dingy and dark, with bare looking white walls and only a few old posters for atmosphere. One annoying thing that wasn't really the restaurants fault was that they let a large group of people who were waiting for a table just mill around the restaurant, and while we were finishing up our food they walked over and asked us if we were planning on leaving soon, we kind of laughed at them and told them not to bother us while we finished our food and beers... so nerve. we'll be back, hopefully eating in the front room.

I went to Tao as a part of a large group with my old company on their dime. It was ultra trendy and super crowded. It's very scene, if that's what you're into. It took forever to get a table despite our reservations and the bar area got crowded very quickly (this was even a Tuesday night!) It's very expensive. Since my company was paying and we had around 8-10 people, we got to try a lot of the menu as we got a lot of appetizers and everyone shared their entrees with everyone. We had a lot of wine as well. The food was very good, I admit. And the decor is amazing. It is gorgeous inside, even if it is so dark you could fall down the stairs to the bathroom (if you can even find the stairwell). The bill came to over a grand. I'm just glad I wasn't paying! I would take someone back to have drinks or for dinner if I was seriously trying to impress them.
