I came here for the rateclubs event. Without which, I doubt I'd ever come here. The concept is just so not my thang. However, I have to say that I truly enjoyed myself on rateclubs night and loved it that tokens were provided as part of the package. I had a great time exploring the place and landing myself one of those cute stuffed toys (of course, I strategically chose games with higher odds of winning rather than those that I really wanted to give a shot at cos everybody loves to leave a winner =D)

All hype and nothing to show for it...... For a place that calls its self the Buddha bar does not have the huge Buddha statue, you ask why, they where having legal issue because the design was copyrighted, so they removed it. - BOOO on you The place has two colors RED and BLACK -  its like begin inside a red velvet cake, the seats where comfy and the over all decor is OK. The crowd, is 30 and up, and all dressed up. I don't understand why you have to over dress to come to this place, its not a charity event. They just make it our more than it should be. The music is ok but the base came be to loud and in a short while you might have a pounding head ache. Though a DJ comes in around 9 30 or so, he is not good at all can not mix two simple songs or transition between them. The wait staff acts like they are the best thing on earth, the drinks are kind of pricey $15+ a drink and let me tell you it is not that great. Had the berry Mojave it taste like Tylenol PM..UM NO Had pricey drinks before in my life but they where worth the price and tasted good but these drinks are not that great, tried my friends it is nothing special at all but not worth the $$$ Here is the thing i don't get the most after 10PM they add 20% gratuity for what???? what do you do walk around once every 30 min and ask do we need more alcohol - We got the check at 9 30 and they still added the 20%, im sure there watch was not ahead by half an hour. The bathroom attended turns the bathroom to his own private cubical and sits there and talks on the phone and expects a tip -  YA OK. Ya this place is totally the opposite of everything that i heard of and thought it might be. SOOOOO overly hyped for no reason and has nothing to back the hype.

A TINY NIGHTCLUB WITH A BIG HEART! I love Kat's! The first time we went was for a friend's b-day. My initial thoughts were that the food was not that great and the drinks were just OK. I remembered the spot from when it was Jake's Ice cream and couldn't imagine how a place that small could possibly be "THE" nightspot on thursday nights. By the end of that night though, I had run into 3 diffrent groups of friends; all regulars, all raving about the place. So I decided to to give it another shot. By our second visit, Kat was greeting us personally with hugs and smiles and my friends and I were joking back and forth w/ other customers and our new best friend Alex, the bartender who is a MUCH better mixologist than the previous one (ladies, it's worth the visit just to hear his accent) . By the third visit, we were regulars ourselves. Thursday nights is open mike. Anyone with talent - real or imagined - is welcome to join the band on stage. Sometimes it's great. Sometimes ..... not so much (a tip for all you American Idol wannabes: don't attempt the likes of Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston (pre-crack) or Aretha Franklin unless you REALLY can sing). But even the bad ones keep you entertained as you laugh and joke with your neighbors (after all - misery loves company....and alcohol) Every once in a while, Kat herself will jump on the mike and blow the crowd away. The real thrill however, is when local artists pop by and join in to sing or play a few songs and then stay to hang out and enjoy (or suffer through) the music with the rest of us. Kat's is like Cheers for the music set. There's none of the attitude and pretentiousness that you get at other midtown spots. Just friendly people, there to enjoy the music.... and enjoy it you shall.
