by Bryon Favela on If you like an intimate and relaxing type of concert feeling, then you will like this place without worrying about getting trampled over. It's a simple set up with amazing architecture. Full bar, extra room with a pool table, artist's souvenir tables, bathroom and stage. The one thing that I wasn't expecting was their F-O-O-D! I sat at the bar just scanning through their menus not thinking much and there was a sous chef standing right next to me. I asked kindly what he recommends to eat. He proudly answered, "The Famous Gourmet Burger." Seriously, I kid you not that this burger was done perfectly, (juicy Sirloin meat, soft toasted Focaccia bun, fresh veggies, tasty sauces). I felt that this was the best burger I've tasted in SF. (Ohhhh whattttt..Hollllaaaaa.....) This place is unlike other concert venues I've been to because you don't have to be at the very front row to listen to the music or see the musicians. You can be sitting at the bar or standing up at the back. You'll be content on where ever you're at because there are plenty of room. So, when you find out your favorite artist is performing here, you're in for a good and relaxing experience.

by InfodivaMLIS B. on I have neglected to write a revien of El Rio because I may have had some negative things to say about the "Sound System" the acoustics , until now. Things have change. Since 2008, the side room is closed. It bothered me to have two types of music wafting through the place. The house speakers would play one genre and the side room with bad feng shui would emit a bad sound. There was just too much ambient competition. Today at Mango, a bank of speakers were set up on the patio stage. Asking around, the club has had this set up for a minute. I enjoyed being around all colors, all races, all sizes enjoying Salsa, Rap , Soul and Hip Hop. The weather was perfect. It was Grrl, Gurl, Girl city. I love it. I will be back.
