by Alea G. on I've only been here twice, but the Cafe Du Nord has definitely won my heart. It's such a cute venue. It's a great place for intimate performances. Fantastic artists come to play there (I've missed so many. curse you law school!!) I went there for the first time to see the Department of Eagles and the second to see Miggs a couple of nights ago (great band, you should check them out). The food looks great, but i haven't had the opportunity to try it. Reasonably priced drinks and a good selection of draft beers (really liked the cider they had). Acoustics aren't the greatest and they seriously blare music between sets. Waaaay too loud. My throat hurt from trying to talk to my friend between sets. Other than that, this is a great venue and I fully recommend checking it out if you get the chance. Ticket prices generally aren't too shabby either.
by Monsieur B. on You know a place is hot when those reviews where the writer got in gave it 5 stars and those 1 star reviews (accompanied by embarrassingly long write-ups, might one note) are penned by the sad souls having to wait dejected outside. To be brief and not sound like a total prick, the place rocks. Hands down the freshest spot on the scene. Kudos AK.
by Ernesto Roddy on I actually had alot of fun at this place. Into champaign then check it out. In to martini's then check it out. Want good drinks then check it out. The lounge part is really cool and even though I am not too sure as to how much a table would cost it looked awesome. The line when I got there was rather long but it actually moved rather quickly. The bar was a little difficult to get to because it seems like it might be a little too small for the place but ultimately I had PLENTY to drink so I am not complaining. I really enjoyed myself. It is swanky and cool and the people were chill. Fun on a saturday night with a bunch of friends in a place where you can actually hear what the other person is saying. Wanna dance? go downstairs and tear it up!... Great for groups and great for a chill but fun fun fun night.
