I have always had a BLAST here! In fact, I threw a thirty person birthday party for my boyfriend at Biscuits and Blues during a Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillet Lickers show. It was so much fun! The food is delicious and the portions are generous. The atmosphere is a lot of fun and the music is amazing. I've also been for the Biscuits and Blues Valentine's Day special and it was SO wonderful. Lavay Smith also happened to be the act there that night and she's always fabulous. The food was amazing and really well plated. The drinks were strong but still delicious. Overall, I have always had a wonderful time here and highly recommend it for the music and food. It's definitely a treat and perfect for special occasions, since it's pricier than just going to dinner at an average restaurant in SF. But if you consider that you're getting dinner AND a show, it's worth it for special evenings. :)

I LOVE this venue.  the crowd is always a good mix, the drinks are good, and the decor is just amazing. however i cannot give them a 5. - horrible music (its just instrumental music from the 30s?) - douchey black shoe only policy - douchey long artificial long line outside - again, horrible music. if this place had some old school hip hop, or just more updated music... this would be the #1 spot of all LA.  im not asking for a dance floor, or for a dancing atmosphere... but more a place i can get a drink and groove at the same time.. they can eve  keep the volume low to maintain the mood they have now. i love how the music isnt too loud right now, because you can actually get a conversation going with the people you meet. but damn that music really ruins it all... LIKE:  the crowd, the bar, the decor, the venue DISLIKE: shit music, black dress shoes only policy, shit music.... and shit music... and artificial long line.... and the horrible music.

Let me preface this by stating that I stayed here while on business.  BAD IDEA.  I think it would be a great hotel for a vacation, but there were screaming drunk people in the swimming pool outside my window at 1am and again at 3am.  Not good when you have a long day of driving and seeing customers the next day.  Now, if I'd be drunk on vacation, I might have been amused. I had to wait 15 minutes to be checked in.  I had problems finding parking in their lot, and there was no bellman to help with my luggage and samples.  I tried to roll the garment rack myself, which promptly fell over in the middle of the parking lot.  I had to try to pick it up myself, and barely did.  I managed to get them in through the gate and had constant visions of the garment rack and samples plunging into the swimming pool as I delicatedly tried to stear the rack around it.  LUCKILY my visions never materialized, and I got safely to my room.  The decor was somewhat updated, but I stll felt like I was in a Motel 6.  It seems somewhat damp and musty in the room.  And of course there was the problem later with the noise.  I also worried that my car would be broken into all night though it never happened. The lounge and restaurant do live up to the hype.  I had some sort of duck/crepe/plum sauce yumminess and my mouth still waters when I think of it 4 years later.  I don't know if this dish still exists, but I'm tempted to check next time I'm in town. As I said, the review sounds negative, but if I'd gone for a weekend, I would have not had samples and racks with me, the slow service wouldn't have mattered because I would have been relaxed and laid back, the noise wouldn't have bothered me or maybe I would have been the noisy person.  This place sort of IS the party hotel, so just know that before you go, and you'll most likely love it.
