by hayley V. on DUG and soul night are my favorite events at Lo-Fi but I will come here any time just to sit at the bar and gaze at Suzy- the hottest bartender in all of Seattle. Oh man does she pour a mean drink. She's sweet as a peach and as sharp as a hypodermic needle that simultaneously injects booze (i.e. medicine) down your gullet. Speaking of 'the best'- Lo-Fi also has a legit photo booth that develops b&w pics in no time with perfect contrast which really means something to drunk people who need to capture the fleeting moments in life when they were happy. On that voyage to the fridge the next morning when your head hurts and you're debating a shot go ahead and let your blurry vision align to reveal valuable photo evidence that you are, in fact, "livin' the dream." Come here to dance but if you are the type to bitch about bar bathrooms make sure you have a couple to calm yo'self before you go searching for your porcelain throne.
by Coleman Gardner on I love that Joie de Vivre picks up the smaller, older hotels in the city and gives them new life. This hotel is an excellent example of that. A gritty looking, 70's retro Motel 6 shell, this rock 'n roll hotel offers so much more. The overall vibe makes me happy. It feels like I should be roadside in Palm Springs, hanging out with oddballs because I'm road tripping on a tight budget, but then I look up and see the high rises, or walk out the door and see the hookers. Ah, San Francisco. Because it's managed by a reputable company, everything is clean, quirky and fun. I'd absolutely recommend it for those folks with rock and roll sensibilities who aren't squeamish about the fact that it's not in the most high end area of town. NOT recommended for folks who aren't interested in continuing the party, are traveling for business, or your grandparents. This hotel will always hold incredibly dear memories for me as my one and only groupie experience. I'll save you the details, but I'll imply that it was much more fantastic than it really was by asking you to focus on the fact that it was so memorable. Hi Phantom Planet! We love you guys!

I was told this was a very "seen and be seen" joint - not really famous for their food but rather for their ambience and the fact that anyone who's anyone dined here. They did take forever to seat us - at one point i wasn't even sure if they knew our party had all arrived... Nevertheless, their filet medallion was good! Tender and juicy. I was disappointed with their parmesan truffle fries - I was expecting it to be drool-worthy but it wasn't. The desserts weren't that great either. If i were you, just go for the steak and leave. Their wine list wasn't really that impressive. Decent would be a good word to describe it. But when you're with friends, food and drink don't matter anymore, especially when you're gonna get wasted at Lotus right after...
