It was my friends birthday, and she decided to get a table and some Don Julio to celebrate. Had trouble getting in, we werent on the guestlist, and there is no way I was paying 10 bucks to get in.   I usually stay away from this kind of place becuase I hate the whole conversation between you and the bouncer that goes something like this: me: Hi were on the list? bouncher: No your not, wait outside me: Ummm were supposed to ask for PJ? bouncer: I don't care We eventually got in, drank a lot and danced like we've never danced before.  I managed to loose all the contents of my purse, and was amused by the girls in lingerie who were guest DJs for the night. Not my typical night out, but its fun if you like dressing up and can get a table.   And the staff were very helpful trying to help me locate my missing items.

Some things you just can't imagine Hollywood without: perplexed tourists staring at scruffy stars, fly-by-night ATMs guaranteed to clone your card, gridlocked Bowl traffic.  Add The Dragonfly to the list.  I've seen bands big and small there.  Danced with vinyl-clad porn stars and bumped elbows with goths in Joker makeup.  I can count on it for a good time, a reasonable cover and good drinks -- so what's not to love? Parking is easy -- Cole's a good street to check -- and the club atmosphere is always pretty mellow (read: no attitude).  A side room and two outdoor areas mean there's lots of room to hang out.

Lured here for happy hour by the enticing spectacle that are lobster corn dogs.   However, at least to me they did not live up to what I had in my mind.  But that was secondary to the annoyance that preceded us getting into the place. On their website it states that Happy Hour is from 5-7p.  So my girl and I get there right at 5p, only to be told by the parking attendant that restaurant does not open till 6p.  So we were left with a dilemma, one that the Clash are familiar with: Should we stay or should we go?  Well we ended up waiting around till 6p, but only because we couldn't decide or find another happy hour we could get to. We get in, and the decor is very nice.  To me it's like eating in a Library.  An old Library.  Very decorative and nice.  I loved that you could see into the kitchen, and how things are marked off: here's the group section, here's the bar for the dining room, and here's the patio.  And for the happy hour you have to sit out on the patio. Our happy order was the lobster corn dogs of course, the tempura prawns, and the duck fat french fries.  As I said in the open, the corn dog didn't live up to my expectations.  I was picturing it as a chunk of lobster in cornmeal and fried.  However it was like a small lobster wienie, that seemed like it was microwaved.  There was no crunch to the corn casing, it had the texture like it was just popped in the microwave for a couple minutes.  My girl actually liked them, so maybe it was just me.  And you only get two for $6, which for this upscale place I suppose isn't bad.  On the prawns you get three, and their huge!  but they don't have a lot of flavor.  The star was the fries, and the red onion ketchup!  Outstanding.  Little salty, but really really good. The other bad part/good part was at the end, trying to leave.  We got there early and parked ourselves, but we still had to give our keys to the attendant, who then tried to charge us $10 for valet. Uh...no sir.  Not happening.  He told us that we needed to get a managers signature to validate it, and that he "knows the managers signature.."  Just in case we felt like forging the name.  Douche.  The manager however was really understanding, and very kind about it.  Validated our ticket, and saved us the $10, along with also stating he'll get someone to fix the website. We'll I come here again?  I don't know, it's iffy right now.  But the manager definitely made us feel taken care of.
