by Holli Mariotti on Mixed review for this place. I have been here 5 times now. 3 times this was awesome. Twice this place was just so-so. I will probably be back in the future though because it has a good social scene and it is a big venue so you don't have to feel like a sardine. Drinks are pricey just like any drink in SF, but they don't skimp on the amount of alcohol in the glass. The food has always been decent. Often I have gotten attitude from the security staff. They seem to want to ask for ID every few minutes, even if they have already served you several drinks. This has just made me confused. Once I was even asked for ID AS I WAS LEAVING. That's a pretty big turnoff. Especially because I am nearing 30 and had already had been served 5 drinks while I was there. I will take my time getting back to this place. Don't make it a destination unless you are already familiar with the venue.
by Nannette Mcfarland on I wanted to meet a friend during an afternoon where I was stuck in the Javits Center. My iPhone told me that Lucky Strike was the only place nearby with beers. I sighed heavily, walked over and was -- pleasantly surprised! I've been to a Lucky Strike before in Washington DC, but I'd forgotten how laid back and non-ridiculously expensive the bar area is. We had virtually the entire bar area to ourselves, which consisted of a dozen couch areas and a really long bar. The wait staff was friendly and the music was low-key. Lots of basketball games on. Good times.
by Rob I. on I only go on Saturday nights for Avaland/Spundae (unless there's a special event) and this is one of my favorite clubs if I'm looking for a night filled with dark house/techno/minimal. You definitely won't find a trance headliner here. The layout in the main room continues to improve over time. The Spider Room terrace is a often a great alternative too. Perfect for after-hours. I just wish the alley wasn't the only outdoor area at the club. It's way too narrow and busy with smokers. The line to get in can really suck as well, but I am usually able to avoid this with my hookups. Just one request: less 'washing machines' please! ;)
