by Raul Ferandez on I just came here last night for vday with my bf. We had reservations at 7, came and it was very empty, but great bc we got to choose where to sit. I chose the fur couch, (highly recommended) you feel like a king once you sit down in here especially since the décor makes you feel like you're in an old English library. They have a vday pre-fix menu, $75 a person, for 3 course. They had a oyster with hoarse raddish foam to start you off, really small, like the size of a quarter. I ordered the tuna tar tar for appetizer, a bit bland but its light and not heavy. I had the strip steak, medium rare for the entree and it was a bit tougher then I like it, but the sauce & sautéed mushrooms made up for it. It is delicious. Last, I had the passion fruit panna cotta for dessert, very very miniature, and a bit sour, but the white chocolate mouse around it brought it together very well for a sweet dessert ending. delicous food & nice setting, but be prepared to pay a lot. :)
by Shante E. on YUP! That's right, this is like my favorite taco place besides San Diego (read my rav about South Beach bar & Grill in Diego). This place is like home away from home. Although they have their own flare, it comes close. Not as many selections as SBB&G but like i said, it's a close call. The atmosphere is great! Anything on Polk street is great. I just love that street. People are so friendly, and the whole entire place is red. I would go here for a date, bc its fun, light, young, hip. The tacos are really good, they are topped with red cabbage, a spicy lime mayo, and onions. I didn't get the burrito, but from the looks of looking onto other ppl's plate, they looked really good. EXPECT me to come here again and def making it my staple.
by Thomas D. on I went to hear a friend perform on June 29, 2010. It was singer/songwriter night and I went with 3 friends. We didn't have dinner--we were just there to see the show which started at 7pm. We got there early enough to get a great table and settled in for a 2 hour live show featuring 5 local groups doing acoustic sets. The good vibes ended when our waitress approached the table to take our drink orders. I ordered a vodka martini and she corrected me with disdain in front of my friends as to the "proper" way to order a martini. "Straight Up" "Extra Dry" etc. etc. I smiled and let it go. My friends ordered drinks too and we all requested some water to go along with the martinis. She told us that she can't be sure when she would be able to bring the water too! This place also serves food when attending a live show--most people had water on their tables. The first group started to play right at 7pm. They finished at 7:25pm and we were all still sitting at the table without our drinks. I went to ask the floor manager where our drinks were and he told me that he didn't know who our server was. Another 5 minutes went by and she finally showed up with our drinks--the floor manager had tracked her down after all--and she apologized with the explantion that since she took our orders first, we waited the longest because she also went to several other tables. What a crock. I told her that we waited for 25 minutes. She came back with a small tub of Cracker Jack mix and the waters as an apology. The four of us had 2 drinks each for a total of $115.00. ( tip included) Great show by the way! Sloooow service!
