by Michael H. on Incredible Tacos!!! Huge, hearty, and the carne asada is excellent. Also, its Nicks way, or hit the highway. Nicks way an addition of beans, and guac if im not mistaken. Makes a big difference. If you go on Tuesday night there is a heard of young fun people and good drink specials. And if you go on weekend nights the place turns into a night club, which isn't my cup of tea. Go to nicks for the awesome food, but do expect to pay for it. The food is great, but not cheap!!!
by Angela Y. on After careful consideration, I decided to give Slide 4 stars instead of 3. Our friends had a table there with plenty of bottles but their rule is that you can only get 5 people in with line cuts per bottle and apparently they had too many people already. No worries, my friend and I waited in the line - it moved pretty quickly and there was no cover charge, either. However, they have this rule that there has to be 1:1 guy to girl ratio. Girls can get in but guys can only go in if they're there with a female. I think that's not such a bad thing b/c most of the places these days are total sausage fests. Some of the guys who were in line ahead of us realized what was happening (that guys without girls were getting kicked out of the line at the door), so they went girl-hunting down the line and came back with some girls who, of course, didn't mind going in with them since they were at the back of the line and suddenly 5 people away from getting inside. But their story got mixed up when it was their turn to get in and they all got turned away b/c the bouncer realized they didn't come together. LOL I guess its great to have an even guy:girl ratio but...if you expect them all to know each other, the chances of any of them being single and meeting new people is kind of slim, no? Doesn't that defeat the purpose sort of? It's almost as though they want the club to be open to couples only -- very weird. I mean, as long as the numbers are even, I don't think it should matter that they're not really together, just my two cents! Ultimately I don't really care since it has never had any affect on me anyway. Anyway, minus 1 star b/c of the hassle (even though I personally didn't have to deal with any of it) but ultimately, I thought it was kind of nice to have at least one club in SF where they try to keep things classy and upscale that way. Annoying, I'm sure, but I like it. And once we got inside, it was actually a relief that it wasn't overcrowded and also that there weren't a million guys attempting to get with the one cute girl there. Everyone was mingling and dancing - pretty fun spot. They have great bottle service, fabulous ladies' room, yummy drinks, quick service. Definitely coming back! Next time, I wish they would let us use the slide....
by Jacque Thessing on if you are wandering in Little 5 Points aimlessly, and need a drink or want to hear not so mainstream music, usually a local act, go to STAR COMMUNITY BAR. I've seen GUITAR WOLF, WOGGLES, KINGSIZED, NEON CHRIST and countless of other bands, though mainly local ones, it's a great place to check out what ATL has to offer. If you're all about 99X rock star mentality, you're better off going across the street to Junkman's daughter for another NIN t-shirt. If you prefer the strip down version of it, come pay a visit. Now git me a PBR.
