I have to start by confessing that I've only had breakfast here.  However, I've had both 3am and 10am experiences so I feel like I have a good grasp of at least the breakfast. I remember seeing The Majestic when I first moved to Atlanta and being excited.  It looked exactly like an old-fashioned diner that was on Court Street at Ohio University.  Their food was so good.  Alas.... The Majestic is what it is: a dive.  My toast was good...but then again, I put my own butter and jam on that.  My bacon was good...it wasn't burned.  There is rarely any real crunch to my hash browns and the scrambled eggs are always soggy/slimy.  But if I can just get someone to drop me off here, I can walk home after my post party meal.  So I will probably be here again.  Maybe it's time I tried a burger or something.

This review is strictly from the perspective of a fight fan evaluating a sports bar and I have no idea what the night life is like here period. If you are a boxing or MMA fan you should already be familiar with Abbey Tavern. If you're not then you need to catch up because Abbey Tavern is truly a fight fan's paradise. Now that my beloved Ricky's has cut down on their fight schedule I have made increasing trips across the Bay Bridge to Abbey Tavern to fill my fix for The Sweet Science. Every major and even minor fight in boxing is shown here. If you don't have cable, don't want to pay 50 bucks for a huge ppv, and don't have enough friends to split ordering a ppv Abbey Tavern's got your back (there's a standard $20 cover to get in). The bartenders are all friendly (and generous with the drinks) and the regulars are highly educated fight fans who actually know what they're talking about. They're friendly as hell too. Once when I was there to watch the Cotto/Judah fight the guy sitting at the table next to me actually shared his pizza with me and refused to let me buy him a drink. I was starving and had asked him how much the pizza cost him and instead of telling me he proceeds to share half of his! That pretty much sums up my experience here.  Speaking of food Abbey Tavern doesn't serve any but you're welcome to bring food outside food and on their block alone you've got a choice between a pizzeria, Chinese restaurant, or Taco Bell & KFC. But all of that is really secondary to the fact that this bar is a truly reliable source to catch any and all boxing fights. They have also started to broadcast UFC ppvs although they have yet to air MMA cards from any other promotion. So the next time you don't know where you'll catch the big fight don't worry cuz Abbey Tavern's got it.

Great hang out spot that feels like a travel destination. One of the bartenders makes an awwweessome fantastically limey mojito. Mmmmm... on scorching days like these, I can drink buckets of it!
