I definitely like the exposed brick, chalkboard menus on the wall, high ceilings, large windows and open dining room portioned into three sections on the top level. The patio is neat, but not special. Down stairs is pretty cool too, but I don't think it is as amazing as other people do. My mom especially loves it... but I think it is catered towards women with the items for sale. They also have a little "bakery/deli" down there but I haven't tried it. The first time I went there it was just for drinks with some friends, which was cool. The next time was with my mom and brother for an early dinner. I had the muffolata sandwich. It was good, but not amazing. I think it was a little too big and greasy, but that may have been the point. My brother had the Tuna and my Mom the catfish. They both enjoyed their meals. Dessert here, in my opinion, is an insult to anyone who knows anything about New Orleans style food. My "chocolate pie" that I had was so boring-which is hard to say about anything chocolate- that I didn't finish it. They also didn't have creme-brule or bananas fosters... disappointing. The third time I went was for my 30th birthday, and the only redeemable mention from that night was that the waitress was astute enough to notice that I was in a lousy mood, but not because of the food. Overall, I think the place has some really good features such as the ambiance, and some of the dishes. The servers are also nice and relatively prompt.
by Sherice Kor on I used to drive by the Golden Temple on my way to the Publick House and think this place was part club, part greasy chinese joint. Who's with me? Anyone? Come on... Okay, fine. I was quite surprised upon my first venture inside, when I learned that the "healthy fresh food" this place claims to serve is actually somewhat true. The crab rangoon is filled with actual crab(and, in my fatty opinion, not enough cream cheese), and the orange chicken is barely drizzled in gelatinous goo. Call me old fashioned, or just nasty, but I prefer my chinese to be gooey, greasy, and uber-tasty. Also, I have gotten heartburn from this place on a couple of occasions. But, I will still gaze longingly across Beacon Street as I drive by, wishing this was a house of far east trashy food and sin.
by Jay M. on little pedro's got a facelift and a fancy new look (goth?). the whole place is lit in red-- pretty sultry. we enjoyed a performance by 'the lonely years' last night. obviously, music plays a large part in setting the atmosphere at any venue. based on the downbeat, folksy sound, yesterday bordello was a good place for a low key date or outing with small group of friends. there was a good mix in the crowd- fledgling hipsters were out in full force. decent drinks, moderately priced. $10 cover.
