by Ulysses Durousseau on I've been here a few times, and continue to hope that it will eventually live up to all the hype, but it never really does. It's not terrible, it's just mediocre with average decor, and the crowd is not consistently good.
by Jennifer S. on [extremely overdue] SF cracks me up, most of the places i've been to have been super easy to find because most of the places are CALLED at it's designated location... meaning, this is located at 111 Minna, and it's CALLED that too.... I wonder when LA will be like that...one day i guess... i mean, shiet, they're slowly coming together with the whole public transportation. Minna 111 is a fun lil art gallery/bar, or whatever you call it, that offers a great mix of different types of art and fine music throughout diff rooms. not sure on what nights but few nights out of the week, i hear they charge cover but when i went it was free... the art work they have is pretty crazy, not landscapes or any dali or seurat or whoever, but i noticed was more like contemporary art, graffiti stuff, paintings, photographs, yadda yadda yadda. i even witnessed 2 guys spray painting (peek fotos!) of a spider and this man pulling a trigger in his mouth, it looked pretty tight.. there are 2 rooms, one right on the left, and one on the right, and both offer great bars, an overall impression will be, a warehouse-y feel...my friends thought it was a trendy spot, but i wouldn't say it was trendy... more so "cool" and to the point of NOT being pretentious.. it def got SUPER crowded so plan early, and its DEF not a romantic spot. and man, they gotta really do something about the restrooms. it was hideous! and not to mention, the bartenders, how RUDE! TIP: Get $1 off all drinks during happy hour (Tue-Sat, 5pm-7pm).
