by Laura K. on I'm in Philly a few times a year on business and this spot always seems to find it's way into my dinner plans. The atmosphere is retro-chic like most other Starr restaurants and features tapas cuisine. The large tables downstairs can fit up to 6; the hanging chairs upstairs are funky and fun for two. The bathrooms are even nifty with their one-way glass at the sinks (don't worry - the stalls are out of view of the mirror). Perennial favorites include the lobster mac & cheese, peanut chicken skewers, chicken quesadilla, and the Continental salad (definitely for sharing). The desserts are divine and it's unfortunate there isn't a super-duper huge serving size for those. My favorite is the strawberry shortcake but really I haven't had a bad dessert.
by Allene Lavell on Me and 9 of my other co-workers had dinner here Friday night and STK did a fabulous job accommodating us! We sat on a round table and it was intimate so we were all about to talk and hear one another. The ambiance is chic, sleek and very cool. A really trendy steakhouse. I loved the fact that it has the offerings of a regular steakhouse, but it has so many other meat and seafood offerings, you can order whatever your heart desires. We shared all the appetizers and I have to say, my favorite were the foie gras french toast! YUM! Fatty, buttery, soft foie gras were served with soft, brioche french toast! What a decadent way to start the meal! I highly recommend this appetizer. The tuna tartare was good, but slightly too salty. The steak tartare was really good. The scallops were served on the shell and they were good too. The shrimp with curry sauce was also really yummy. For my entree, I had the petite fillet mignon. I thought it was okay a bit dry, but I think it was my fault for ordering it medium. One of my co-workers ordered the duck and I thought that was fabulous! We also shared sides of mushrooms, corn pudding, green beans and fries. All were really good. Dessert was really good! We started a bunch, so I highly recommend the warm chocolate cake. It was very rich and good I can't remember the rest, so I guess it wasn't that great.
