by Rei S. on Typical SF club...gets crowded from time to time, but the last time I was there...I wanna say about three weeks ago..???....it was about 12:45 and there wasn't enough people to open up the bottom part of the club so yes, this place can get kinda dead. It's definitely not my first pick, nor has it ever been, and the music is so-so. The outdoor area is great to get a breath of fresh air from all the sweat and b.o. crowding your nostrils from the people on the dance floor. This place used to be happenin...like 4 years ago, maybe even more. So do yourself a favor, if you can skip this club, I'd definitely recommend to do so. =]
by Clayton P. on The venue is cool and cozy. Another place in SOMA with inlaid brick...get outta here?! When I came I got here early for a surprise bday party. As such it was nice to beat the line, be able to talk to some peeps and get a few drinks in me without having to wait in line for 20 minutes. As the night wore on the place as getting packed for Cisco Adler and Shwayze, which I must say was a pretty fun show. It ended up getting to the point where you had to wait 20 minutes + for a drink After the first time doing that I figured I that was the perfect time to cut myself off. The vibe on the dance floor was good as the crowd feeling it. I was up there getting my groove on when I was joined by a nice drunk idiot who thought he would throw his elbows all over the place as he tried to show some man love to his boy Cisco. I "kindly" pointed out that he moved right in my way and to move over. He thought this was a bit too much to ask so he started pushing me an offering some sincere death threats... being the responsible semi sober club goer I remove myself from the situation. Outside of the death threat and that fiasco I thought it was a good spot. Don't think I would get here late and wait in a line for the experience, and am more likely to go and see someone specific versus just cruising over here to hangout and dance.
by Tesha Skay on This is probably one of the most consistently fun places to go out in Cambridge. Every night I've gone, it's been a blast. Middlesex is a great spot for non-mainstream entertainment... both in terms of the music they have here and the patrons. The crowd is pretty friendly overall and doesn't suffer from the usual boston frat-boy contingent. The music is usually pretty unique too... so don't expect top 40's crap. Best night by far is Thursdays... which i'm proudly a regular of. Every other tuesday is called "Hearthrob" which is pretty fun too. PS - I can only comment on the late night aspect of this place, as i've never been here for the food.
