by Ivy W. on The first time I heard about MyHouse was on my 21st birthday. An acquaintance texted me, "Hey happy birthday! U want to go to myhouse tonite since u r 21 now aaha my friends and I have a table there." The first thing I thought was, "Why is this guy telling me he and his friends have a table at his house...?" Since then, I've heard mostly positive things about this place from various people. I met a guy by chance who promotes with House of Glam at MyHouse, so he said he could get me and my friends in for free. We arrived around 10:30 PM was directed to the "front yard" of the club with a bunch of other people. There was no line, it was just a huge crowd. I called up my promoter friend and he got us in, no problem. Only problem was my friends had to pay cover ($20), including my GIRL friend. Um, what happened to getting my friends in for free?! VENUE The club looks like a giant upscale mansion from outside. Going up the stairs and through the entrance, a big bouncer lets you in through the front door while announcing, "Welcome to my house" (original). On your left is the dance floor with a bar and on your right is the living room (?) with a kitchen bar. There are a bunch of booths and tables scattered around and a bed in the middle of the living room. Behind the living room is the outside patio with another bar and a grill with some guy grilling bacon-wrapped hot dogs ($5). For some strange reason, the Saturday night that I went, they decided to close the 2nd floor (where the main bedroom is located), which was kind of stupid because it got SO crowded it was hard to move around. Overall, the place looks nice. DRINKS/HOT DOGS Bar tenders were attentive and very friendly, except the bartender in the patio - he was really slow. Drinks were really good, I had 3 Midouri Sours (one on the house, thanks to my promoter friend). The bacon-wrapped hot dogs were delicious! After you leave the club, there's another guy selling them outside for $4 (versus $5 inside)! MUSIC They played a variety of music from Top 40, techno, pop, to old school rap. I felt like most of the songs you couldn't really dance to but whatever, I had fun. CROWD Asian. I don't know why but it seemed like everyone there was either in their late 20s or from the '06 & '07 classes of Temple City and Arcadia High. I cannot tell you how many people I bumped into from high school, it was ridiculous. Some I were happy to see, some I was not so happy to see. I've been told that the crowd here is typically very fobby (Jay Chou and Heechul from Super Junior was here last Saturday), however, I felt like it was a good mix. I think it was an after-party for some convention thing for the older crowd, so it became very very very packed towards the end of the night. You could not dance on the dance floor without punching someone in the face or rubbing against their sweaty backs. BOUNCERS If you're nice to them, they're nice to you. You act like a bitch, diva, douche, ass, etc. they'll treat you the same way and kick your ass out. Maybe they're power tripping but hey, what do you expect? As long as you play nice, you should be fine. However, if you're drunk, no matter how nice you are, they will 100% kick your butt out of the club. So don't get drunk or if you do, act like you're sober. If they see you about to puke and whatnot, they'll kick you out of the club - they don't really care about your well-being. PARKING There is available self-parking right next door in the structure for $5 which was a really good deal. Take advantage of it! Valet is in a separate structure for $10. I like the venue and I met a lot of friendly people here. The only things I didn't like were the restrooms were really dirty and after they started kicking everyone out, everyone just hung out in the alley behind because no one wanted to go home. I feel like even though the venue is nice, it's a lot less classy than Exchange. Exchange even has a vomit room where they take care of you and make sure you're okay before they let you go because you're their obligation. MyHouse is the opposite of that. This place is really bordering 3 stars but I really had fun here, so I think they deserve another star. I would most likely come back again. If you plan on dancing, meeting people, and having fun, come here. If you plan on getting shit-faced, go to Exchange. They'll really take care of you there.
by Rissa R. on This review is for the club. I had a fine time on Friday night. It wasn't bad getting in at all and it was 2 girl:2 guy ratio which i was hesitant about. The music was good, not too crowded. Drinks were kinda pricey but that's expected in Hwood. My one complaint is that the website really plays up the decor and stuff inside. When you walk in though, it's just a typical club. All in all a chill night and everyone had fun.
by Logan Iannucci on Giving this place three stars because I have had some awesome and wild nights here, but the last time I recall having fun here was more than a year ago now... I officially decided that I would not come here again after Suite 181 went all East Oak on me... ain't nothing wrong with the brovas, cuz you know I love me some Chocolate Meat... but man oh man... It became straight HOOD! Like DJ Kahled SOoooo HOooooD! Bevy and I decided to get down on the floor one night and was like EFF IT, we can go to 181, hip hop, brothers, and always packed we can't go wrong!!! **so we told ourselves* We got there early so we only had to pay $10.00 at the adjacent lot (tip: they only start charging $20 after 10pm) and since we were on guestlist we didn't pay cover... We bought a few rounds of drinks and as soon as we were feeling ourselves, we headed downstairs to START THE NIGHT... and believe me it was more than all good until some dude picked me up and I got sandwiched between him and his two friends... I felt like I was in a gangbang! I couldn't breathe and I definitely couldn't find Bev... I turned around and there she was, lifted in the air with some dude trying to make her ride him like he is some horse... "Ohhhh HELLLL NO!!!" I went up to him and asked him to put her down... Instead his friend picked me up and did the same thing, my dress riding up and my goodies for all the world to see... He put me down eventually and they did a good job leaving us alone for one hour... then the havock of being sandwich happened again.. that's when we decided to exit, and I haven't been back since...
