Amazing experience.  I had such a wonderful anniversary with my boyfriend and loved the beginning. middle and end. After reading just about every review on rateclub I was hesitant on many levels, prepared myself for a high bill and really just went open minded and to have a great time. We arrived in the neighborhood at 7:10pm, luckily there were free parking spots right in front of the club. There was already a line ouside the door and so we waited for a while too to be ushered into the foyer and to the host desk with Ms. Vee dressed in halloween type makeup and quite a sassy attitude.  When you arrive she asks you how you are and you better say, :Slutty'.  Which you should be, I guess - why not??  You get a post it to give to the bartenders in the next room and a sticker with your bed number. So we progressed into a fairly small, shiny red room, complete with about 15 disco balls and a 360 bar.  The bartenders aren't super friendly but after a short wait we gave our post-it to the bartender and put a credit card on file which would charge our drinks and later food to the card unless you decided later to pay another way. The main room isn't huge like I expected.  It's two floors with about 25 beds on each floor. The room has a bar and dj booth set up - leaving not a huge entertainment space.  The lighting was great, the colors change consistantly but not annoyling - pink, blue, purple, green, red - all very sexy and great with the loungy/electronic music.  We went upstairs and were greeted by a hostess who showed us our bed and asked if we had any food allergies/dietry needs.  Seated, we were surprised by the comfy bed, comfy pillows, good amount of space and everything just had a great vibe.  Seated on the second floor is great because it seemed pretty intimate but you could easily see the show or get up from the bed and see if even better. Servers throughout the evening were easy to order drinks from and they came out pretty quick.  The signature cocktails were $10-12 and my favorite was the B Smiley which was a lemonade, vodka, sparkling mixture that was slightly sweet and refreshing. FOOD: --Salmon Sashimi with carrots, mushrooms - fresh, great sauce and a fair serving.  Great way to start the pallet and enjoyed the flavor. --Roasted Red Bell Pepper Soup with crispy risotto ball - good, smokey, lots and the ball was interesting. --Beef with a mashed potatoe and sauteed veggies - LOVED the mash potatoes, the veggies were sauteed just right and the meat was a hearty serving. --Pear Tart a la mode - a little too dry for me but it was pretty good. All were served on nice modern serving dishes and had nice presentation.  A server describes every dish when you get it. ACTS: --Girl on a pole but it was lifted off the ground and swinging the entire time.  She looked great, really did some great moves and it was pretty interesting to see. --Simulated fellaio between two men behind a curtain - very artsy, a little bit much for me but it's silly and in good debauchery fun. --Man in a blue bunny suit, 5 inch clear stripper heels with a beard - hilarious throughout the night,  He did magic and was pretty good I'd have to say.  He was by far my favorite character of the evening. --Ms. Vee did an act with singing, stripping a bit and finally pouring an entire bottle of champagne over herself and a guy.  Pretty entertaining. The arts are fairly short but entertaining.  The masseuse, blue bunny and Ms. Vee do work the room and I personally loved how there was plenty of time to talk, snuggle, run off to the restroom (only downstairs in the bar area and pretty in all black and fairly) and in general enjoy your company and not just the show. We stayed for a bit of dancing when they open up the place to normal club goers around 11pm.  Lots of people crowd in this fairly small place but it was still fun.  The music was good and I really enjoyed the dancing.  It was very expensive, especially with drinks but I knew that going in.  That is the only reason it isn't 5 stars overall.  I loved every minute of the evening and had one of the most memorable nights out.  Worth the experience if you are open minded, not trying to be judgemental and clear about how much this evening will cost you.  Have a great time!

My friend Amanda recently finalized her divorce and so to celebrate the ladies and I headed to Asia SF.  Our 10 person group got a $38 prix fixe menu and seats for the 9:45 show.  When we arrived we found ourselves smack dab in bachelorette party central--big surprise--and headed downstairs to have some pre-dinner drinks while we waited for our time slot. Downstairs looks like college, which for me meant Boston frat house basements, loud hip hop music, and lots of drunk...er...women.  Every once in a while a performer would come out and shake a tail feather (sometimes in the lap of a lucky bride to be) or some random would hop up onto the stripper pole in the corner and try her hand at spinning around it.  I suppose if you've lived a relatively sequestered life these things would be a lot more outrageous for you; for me, they were a little old hat (see again: college) but most of the girls in the bar seemed to be alternately having a great time bopping around beneath their tiaras and squealing in mock horror at the raunch.  Whatever. The four star review, therefore, has nothing to do with the show or the experience--it's all about the food. Oh, the food. The food made me completely forget that there were Asian trannies all over the place.  When I looked at the menu it had three sections: drinks, first course, and second course.  I assumed we'd each be ordering 2 selections and that would be that, but boy was I wrong. Because it was prix fixe, food just kept coming.  We got the spring rolls (yum!) and the tuna burgers and the steak salad and the chicken satay and the soba noodles and some pork thing...it just showed up, plate after plate of deliciousness.  Everything was awesome and we all ate to bursting.  By the time the show was finished, our bellies were full and we were all pretty toasty (from the $10 drinks that are in addition to the dinner price...).  We went downstairs and danced it off, and then sweatily headed home. Had the food not been such an enjoyable experience, this could have easily been a 2 and a half star review--you can see a lip syncing tranny just walking down the street in the bay area--but the deliciousness of the dinner almost made me forget how much money I dropped on the night. HOWEVER, it IS bachelorette land and short of another good friend wanting to have her shindig here, I really can't see any reason to go back.

Luckily, this last weekend at Vessel, the first portion of my evenings drinks were comped and I was at a private party full of lovely and entertaining people in this lounge with a ship theme that is not as gaudy as your typical cruise ship, but that still shows its wear when the lights aren't dimmed. The drinks were strong and served in glass wear rather than the plastic they often use to keep the trouble making at bay. I say, if you really want to keep trouble making at bay reevaluate your clientele. No place that is supposed to attract a clientele that will throw down $12 a well drink and more for premium liquor should have to serve it up in plastic. No one with class would say with disgust that the club is letting an "old" crowd in as they shiver in the night waiting admittance. No classy nightclub would have a "hip" unisex restroom, complete with valet, and fail to keep it in repair. Yes Vessel, you can dress em up but.....
