Can I give it six stars? Was in ATL for a weekend and looked up sushi restaurants online in the area and stumble upon Sushi House Hayakawa.  Me being a sucker for mirugai and engawa once I saw them on the website I was game! We decided to sit in the sushi bar and was greeted by Hayakawa san and Koizumi san's energetic "irasshaimase" from that point on I knew I was at the right place. We ordered one omakase menu, chicken liver,  tako sashimi, maguro sashimi, hamachi sashimi, unagi sashimi, and mini ikura don. The omakase course started with three hor d'oeuvres plate included marinated shiitake stem, lobster wrapped in shiso, and herring roe.  All I have to say is that the night definitely started on the right note.  Then the course followed by assorted sashimi served with homemade special wasabi and soy sauce, a sunomono (radish wrapped around avocado and salmon) aji fry, 'mountain jellyfish', and ended with a nigiri set (ootoro, mirugai, hotate, uni, shima aji) with my deep apology there was a tempura plate however I forgot to tell Hayakawa san that I don't beef, and it contained beef.  The night ended with homemade honey yogurt sorbet. All the dishes were heavenly there was nothing I can criticize about them, and the nigiri sushi were one of a kind it's definitely on par with morimoto, and may be better. One more thing Hayakawa san had a extensive amount of sake, shochu, and Japanese whiskey! It's probably the most extensive list I have ever seen outside of NYC (never been to LA sorry socal ppl). But the whole experience was more than just food it was the overall experience the profound conversation I had with Hayakawa san regarding passion and 'kokoro', my experience in Japan, and tourist tips about ATL. The whole night turned out to be one of the best moments during our trip. If you are ever in the area and you are crazy about sushi definitely check it out!  On that night I came out of the restaurant with more than a satisfied pallet and stomach, it was a tremendous experience with surprises and valuable life lesson!

The first time I went there was for an 80's prom night thing and that was really fun and had a great time, but then I went to the Halloween bash and the New Years Eve bash, which was much worse. It takes you an hour to check in your coat and people are pushing and shoving and skipping the lines, same goes when you get your coat back. Then it seems they have no limit on people, which is REALLY dangerous. I was there last night and it was so crowded that people were pushing you and shoving and people couldn't take it anymore and there was crying. How can you dance when the room is sooo crowded? I couldn't even dance anymore. Then by the coat check room, there was a ceiling leak. It seems there is no security around when you need them. It's really dangerous. Also there was people smoking marijuana inside the place, I smelled it. I hate the smell of marijuana and smoking so that didn't sit well with me. There was also no smoking allowed outside the place, so people had to smoke inside, which sucked also because I had to smell it. When I went to the Halloween Bash, they allowed you to smoke outside. This place is a madhouse. I only went because I'm 20 and there wasn't many New Years parties I was allowed to go in except for this. Just avoid this club and save your money. All they care about is MONEY and not about safety. Thank God nothing serious happened though except for people slipping down the stairs and crying and people pushing and shoving. The only good thing about it is the music and sound system. Next time I go to a club is if there is a limit on people.

A+ scorpion bowls. Tons of fun. Friendly and interactive atmosphere. They do require you to share a scorpion bowl with at least two other people though. The bartender wasn't impressed that my friend wanted to tackle one alone. Fun place to bring a group of friends. There's not always dancing here. We once tried to bring the dance party and only got looks from the rest of the crowd and jokes from the policeman who was regulating. Warning: if you leave this place pretty intoxicated don't lean up against the closest car parked along the sidewalk. It's probably not a cab, but a police car. Not such a smooth move.
