by Stephaine Mccleer on I created a rateclubs profile only bc for the entire time that I was forced to be in this awful club, all I could think about was how I couldn't wait to get home so I could tell others NOT TO GO HERE EVER! It is by far the WORST club I have ever been to in my life. In fact, I am so embarrassed that I actually went to this place that I'm posting this review under a fake name. First of all, they advertised a $10 cover charge for ladies before midnight on their website (which was our main motivation for going to this awful place, along with the fact that its within walking distance from my apartment) but when we got there they proceeded to charge us $25 and tell us that the advertisement must have been wrong. Since we were already there, we decided to pay the $25 in hopes that this place might actually be worthwhile. We were very, VERY wrong. The music was terrible, the people were terrible, and the drinks were way overpriced. DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!
by Anna S. on With a bottle of J Brut Rose and other cocktails in our system, my gfriends and I got in the mood to go dance! Reading Nish's review of Slide and knowing it was close to where we were, we went and checked it out. Even without my contacts in, I spotted the place when we saw the massive line outside. Hmm.... I don't do lines. We walked right on up to the front and sweetest doorman ever let us in since it was my friend's bday celebration. Yes!!! Good start. You walk in and there is a stair case down, but hell no! I am taking the SLIDE entry!!! Are you kidding me?? I slid down that thing in full force, and let out a big ol Whoop!!! The "catcher" at the bottom wasn't expecting my sliding enthusiasm and missed me and I landed right on my ass. The "catcher's" commentary: "That was awesome!" I wanted to run up and do it again, but I had to get my camera out to catch the birthday girl's upcoming adventure down the Slide!!! After we all gained our composure from laughing and reliving our slide experiences, we hit the bar. I am really psyched about this place because it is MY type of lounge and San Francisco sucks when it comes to MY type of places. It's larger than most other places, so even though it was crowded, I didn't feel like a complete sardine. The reason it lacks five stars is because I couldn't really figure out where the dance floor exactly was and I prefer to have a designated space for dancing so I can get my groove on and not knock into people that are just standing around. I am very excited about this place. Nish is right - it has potential to be the ultimate spot in SF. I hope it works because I need a go-to dance spot in SF.
