You wanna dance and see drama unfolding? Have some drinks and meet cute boys and girls who may or may not be wearing thigh high boots and tighty whiteys? Welcome to a messy sassy fun night,  compliments of The Cafe. Go early and avoid the crowds. You know the dance floor is going to be double parked after 11.

One of my high school conversations: Me: Drummers are hot. Friend: Oh yea? I don't disagree. I saw Lenny Kravitz in concert and his drummer was a girl.  She was buff and it was hot. Me: I'm telling you, whenever there is a band, the drummer is the hot one. Friend:  Lars?? Me:  Well, yea.  When you take into consideration Metallica as a whole - yes, he could be considered the hot one. Friend: *shrugs* side note: I married a drummer. Somewhere around the age of 9, I acquired the desire to take up playing the drums.  My mother shook her head and insisted that girls play instruments like the flute and boys play the drums.  So I played the flute and played it well but I was so jealous of the boys rat a tat tatting. When I got a job and started saving up money, I came *this close* to buying a drum set.  Once again my mother put her foot down and let me know that no drum set would be allowed in her house. *Enter Guitar Hero World Tour* My daughter asked for it for Christmas.  Little did I know that it would end with me spending hours on my butt with drum sticks in my hands.  I love it.  I know it's not real.  I don't care.  I can bang away to a bunch of my favorite songs and feel like a rock star. After some fun at a game night a couple of  Rateclub friends mentioned that they were heading to Vertigo to play Rockband.  I mentioned how much I enjoy playing drums on Guitar Hero. They said they were always looking for a drummer and offered to give me a ride.  I was in.  How different could Rockband be from Guitar Hero? Turns out quite a bit.  Guitar Hero has cymbals, Rockband does not. Guitar Hero has 5 colors, Rockband has four.  The song selection is different. No matter really, I still had fun.  I wasn't great because I was getting used to all the differences but everyone in the bar was really forgiving and supportive. A guy performed "I'm Just a Girl" = so totally awesome. I love that they list the songs, complete with difficulty ratings for each instrument.  The set-up with the big screen is awesome. My favorite part was when I sat down, grabbed the drum sticks and heard, "She's cute." :) No cover, I rocked it out, got a pretty stiff rum & coke for $5 and had a blast. At one point there wasn't a bartender in sight.  That was kind of weird. She did eventually surface but by then we were ready to jet. I have a PS3.  I'm exhibiting great self restraint, I really want to go buy the Rockband set so that I may practice on that set of drums. If I do, watch out - I'll drop by soon and bring the house down.
