by Pilar Maj on I met my new friend Emily here for a quick drink to discuss her business, Emily's Ceramics...and found the overall experience to be pretty decent. Our criteria for a good coffee shop were location, wifi, food, and overall ambience. Sugar, which dubs as a nightspot after the sun goes down, was a great combination of what we were looking for. I also liked the fact that you could order a drink if you wanted to skip the coffee. The liquor license helped to make this spot a little more edgy. In addition to my vino, I also had a chai muffin, which was pretty tasty. What wasn't working for me here (other than the slow wifi) was the fact that the place had flies buzzing around. I'm not sure why that was the case, but it was distracting. Would I go back here? Maybe. Do I want to see this place late night, maybe too. On the whole this place is a reasonable stop, but not something to check out unless it's on your way to somewhere you're already going to.
by Natasha B. on I must say, the security at this place is tighter than at the airport, damn. I don't know if it was as a result of the terror attacks in Indonesia the night before, but no other place I visited had a more thorough entrance search. I went to see Matt Darrey here on July 17th, and the vibe was awesome, and the show, amazing. The only drawback I would say was the lights-music sync, that person didn't seem to do a good job (what Matt Darey is too much beat for you, or something? gawd). I like my light s to follow the music beat, bu t it wasn't the case this night. I am not a frequent club scene visitor, as I don't quite enjoy hordes of drunken man-sharks praying non my just-as-drunk ass...but once in a while I can allow some jerk a non-retaliatory pleasure of grabbing my ass while in a dancing crowd. With that said, i would go to Ceilo if there's another show to see there, cool atmosphere - I dig the disco balls and wall/ceiling lights. The area outside is nice touch too, but with all the security, it's not so much fun :(... I'll be back for another show, whenever that will be, but I hope it'll be around for some time.
