This place is great! If you like to wait outside and not get to go in for no good reason.  On a Wednesday night no less. We were a group of about 10 rather attractive 21/22 year old ladies, (some very attractive) for one girl's birthday and apparently the only way we could get in would be to buy a $400 table.  It seems the best way to get in this club is to be a single guy.  Not kidding...that was all they were letting in.  That or if we were on the 'guest list,' which is so stupid because all that means is that you e-mailed some person whose name you drop at the door.  That or if you're a leathery, over-tanned 40 year old with platinum blonde hair, fake tits, and a willingness to wear your bra as a shirt. I get that they want there to be a line outside to look cool, but I would think they'd want us to eventually end up inside.  I'm pretty sure this club exists for the sole purpose of giving the bouncers a power trip to make up for being so obnoxious and lonely.

Granted, I haven't been to many clubs, but this one definitely blew me away. The security was firm, but nice and surprisingly efficient. I heard there were supposed to be 4000+ people showing up for the SCREAM5 event, and I thought that my girlfriends and I would NEVER get into the club (I've heard horror stories about how long you have to wait in line). We were in line for max 15 minutes. The venue is so huge that it didn't matter if there were a million people in line- all I can say is that there were a LOT of people, but it definitely wasn't overcrowded. The Halloween decorations were absolutely stunning. There were three dance floors and bars located all throughout the club (there was even one upstairs from one of the dance floors!). The most unique aspect about the club was the fact that they were selling hot dogs. The grill was going on all night. Too bad I wasn't really hungry, because the hot dogs smelled absolutely heavenly. All the people attending the event were also really nice/amusing =) Parking wasn't too bad of an issue because we arrived perfectly on time- we parked along the street across from the club, right past the gas station. The spots behind us filled quickly, less than 10 minutes later. The only thing about this club is that you can't see any signs for it along Santa Monica Blvd- the entrance is actually tucked on the side of a small street (you'll have to walk down past the 7-11, and you'll see it on your right side). I definitely want to come back at some point to see what the club is like, sans all the elaborate Halloween decorations.

It's hard to say exactly what I feel about bimbos. I think mostly, it's just a weird layout, but every time I go there I get very excited and talk about how I need to come here more often. By far the best experience here was Ratata in 2007, it was the last show of their tour and they were nothing less than amazing. I have never seen the entire crowd get into a show at bimbos so much, I mean, there was a mosh pit and the entire room was dancing. And I'm normally one of those people who stands midway with my arms crossed ready to death stare any teenybopper who bumps into me. Anyway, I left  that show sweaty, drunk, and with aching legs. I hadn't had such a good time there in a long while. But then there was the worst time ( which wasn't to say it was horrible, but just the bottom of the barrel) was The Islands in 2008. Now I had seen the islands previously at the Great American a year (ish?) before, and that was another ass-shaking-ly amazing show, but this one... the sound tech was off and maybe the band just sucks now that jamie quit? anyway, I sat in the back with my friends just back from bonnero drinking, the show wasn't even worth standing up for. oh well. Now, more about the venue. They have a bathroom attendant, which I always find a little unnerving for a music venue. I mean, I'm a little tipsy, and I have to pee like hell, I don't want to have to think about the proper etiquitte. And they have two bar areas, which is also a little odd, it seems like a poor allocation of square footage. Drinks aren't insanely expensive, and the food sounds interesting, but I've yet to try any. Really, I think this place depends on the band. I would really like to come here some time and sit down and eat dinner and listen to some good music, but never get around to it. To be honest, I try and stay out of the Bermudas triangle unless I have a distinct purpose there.
