by Chris M. on This is a somewhat cool place to grab a drink on the waterfront, certainly not the best. Very pricey and the views are not so great unless you like looking at New Jersey, which I certainly don't. I was here on Friday night and it was packed with plenty of other young people, generally having a good time. The place is a bit dark, there are stairs, and lots of other things you can trip on if you're not paying much attention (or buzzed). Overall the concept is interesting though. Around 11pm some employees opened up a big metal thing on the middle of the pier and started building a bonfire in it. This was super strange, made the surrounding area unbearably hot. While bonfires are quite beautiful to look at, building one in the middle of a crowd in Manhattan feels strange and somewhat dangerous to me. The area near the fire cleared out quickly. Also, although this place is supposedly smoke-free I smelled cigarette smoke everywhere. It even overwhelmed the smell of the garbage in some places.
