by Leif Fallenstein on I went here with someone who knows the managers and was able to get us anywhere we wanted, past the ropes, VIP etc. However, if I had to do it on my own, I wouldn't. The place is swanky, the decor is about as good as it can be for its physical location within the hotel. It's basically a giant box with a stairway leading to it. That makes for a slightly clausterphobic feeling inside (and a treacherous walk down AFTER). No windows anywhere combined with dark walls, low lighting lend to that "crowding" effect that's really not something I'm looking for in a bar. If I really wanted that, I'd invite people over to my place and we'd drink in my closet with the lights off! I get that it's trying to be intimate, but then why do they have the music so loud I have to shout to talk???? The drinks were the normal lounge fair, but expensive You're in a high end place and they let you know it with every round. The crowd's been hit or miss, the usual mix of glitz, ritz and hotel guests. That is when there IS a crowd. Was there one time for a birthday waited 30 mins to be "let in" only to find it empty. I have a hard time justifying WP when it stacks up against other competitors like Maxim Prime downtown with it's rooftop deck view, and even from what I've heard about Whiskey Blue in buckhead with its deck. There will be that superficial set who's heart starts racing at the mention of "WP" but if your's doesn't I'd say move on.
by Kyra R. on A very small venue. You have the bar area in one side of the room and the dancefloor w/ the DJ in another. Table service was very prompt and efficient. I would recommend it if your having a birthday or going with a group of people that want a place to sit instead of standing around like in a sardine can. Ladies were free b4 10:30pm the nite we went...can't beat FREE!! They do have a guestlist if you sign up on their website. I would definitely recommend to do that, I wouldn't pay $25 to get in the spot. Great music, they had Rick Lee spinning, so that was a PLUS! Ladies...watch out for the weird "swords", there's a lot of them.
by Shelley H. on I was surprised to find a hang out like this on the west side- An oddly colorful restaurant on the outside purposely made dark and dingy on the inside to give it that "saloon" feel. Plenty of tables for groups and big roomy booths for those who like to spread out. There's also a bar with a TV above it for sports enthusiasts. The food selection is varied- nachos, quesadillas, sandwiches and salads. All the food looks good but the best choice has to be one of the pound burgers. My favorite comes with gooey melted cheese oozing out all around, avocado squishing out the sides and slippery mushrooms escaping out the bottom. Messy and good. There's a little extra spice added to the meat that gives the burger a further tang. I substituted a salad for fries which makes as much sense as a diet coke at McDonald's but I think the fresh veggies helped dissuade the effect of the grease on my system...not to mention the frosty Sierra on tap. What's a burger at a saloon without a beer? Plus during happy hour (4-7pm) burgers & beers are a couple dollars off. Maybe that's a minus.
