By far the staple Gay-Bar in Austin! I usually forget everything after I leave this place...... Kinda trashy at times. During Splash it is a must to be seen here!
by Damon Beveridge on Harlot is really nothing special. If I was unbiased I would probably give it three stars. A friend of mine was telling me recently how much she likes it so I wanted to tell my experience. I was at the W with one of the guys. A girlfriend of mine gave me a call and said that she and some friends were at Harlot. It's only a few blocks so we headed over and went in. The crowd wasn't bad, the music wasn't bad, and the club in general wasn't bad. My friend was upstairs in the VIP area. I guess they had gotten there early before the guest list came out. She came down to get me and grab a drink. When she wanted to get back up the bouncer wouldn't let her. OK, to her this may have been a big deal, but not to me. Whatever. But, the bouncer was a huge butt and wouldn't walk up the stairs and tell her friends that he wasn't letting us up. She couldn't get through to her friends on the cell phone so this just degenerated into a huge, drunken production. Harlot bouncers = a*holes. 3/11/10 Update. We came by here recently after we tried to go to John Collins and it was closed (I now know it just moved). It was a Wednesday and was a cool, laid back scene. Or, maybe I just had one too many scotches? Upping my review one star.
