by leigh s. on I have had dinner here several times, and I'm never disappointed in the food. The service lacked a bit once when we had a large group, but any time it's just the bf and I, its a good time. Plus, they just expanded their space, which should help accommodate larger parties on the bottom floor where the kitchen is. As for the food, I love their frisse salad with pears, gorgonzola, and walnuts...dressed with a champagne mint vinaigrette. Last night we ordered the mussels in a creamy coconut lime soy broth. Think mussels in tom ka gai soup broth. After devouring all of the mussels, I sopped up as much of the broth as I could with the bread that came out with it. So delicious. I also have had the salmon before which is quite tasty. Last night I had the deconstructed ravioli. Do me a favor and order this. Large noodles with shrimp, corn, avocado, spinach, zucchini, tomatoes, and a creamy sauce. I mean, does it really get much better than that? The dish is rich, but worth it. Final thoughts: Small space. Big taste. Give it a shot.
by Son Stremcha on Martuni's is awesome!!! I love the drinks here - they have the best selection of fruity and flavored martinis. It's very dark inside, but not divey at all. The decor behind the bar is sort of cheesy (faux Roman columns) but it just added to the character of the place. The majority of patrons appeared to be gay male couples, but I can't imagine anyone not feeling comfortable here. It's a great place to hang out with friends (or even on a date) and get tipsy on drinks that are strong, but alcohol-free tasting! Since Halloween is coming up, Martuni's happened to have a whole slew of candy flavored drinks on the menu. The martinis are a bit over-sized so you really get bang for the buck here - they are priced around $7-$9 and really yummy! I had the Almond Joy ($7) and it was very tasty. My friend had the Orange Creamsicle and it really tasted like one! I could totally see myself getting in trouble at a place like this. There are like 20 drinks I want to try the next time I go. Another bonus - Martuni's has endless bowls of savory cracker mix which is perfect for nights where all you want to do is drink and not dilute the buzz with any real food. I can't wait to come back!
