by Brynn T. on After months of cyber-stalking the basement bhangra night at SOBs, I finally made a solo NYC pilgrimage to go dancing. I showed up early for the free frozen margaritas, $5 cover and free dance lesson. What an amazing deal. The space was a bit intimidating at first, being there by myself and all, with nowhere to sit and before people started dancing. I stood around awkwardly drinking until I'd worked up a warm glow. Once the dance lesson started it was all uphill. I danced and drank my face off for hours, made friends, somehow only had a $28 bar tab at the end of the night (I was expecting triple that!) and sadly had to leave before the night ended to catch my 3:15am greyhound bus home. Awesome night. I will be back for more bhangra madness next month.
by Luanna Baldacci on Early evening, before the party starts, this is a luxurious lounge, lush, subterranean, and sexy. The food is nicely done, plated carefully, ambitious, and the bar is full of exotic drinks, fresh fruits and preparations. Staff is well dressed, cordial, and warmly greets you if you are a regular. If you tip well or feel in the game you imagine you are in New York or Vegas, only at San Francisco prices. As for what happens after ten when the velvet rope goes up, I shudder to think. Vegas too is hell if you are an entourage of fifteen boys under 25, or that girl brushing through them to have a word with the bouncer. Please don't trash the place party people - it's looking beautiful.
