Bono was seated in the second banquette, which should pretty much say it all about this place. Look, you're not going to Lavo for the food. You're going because it's a fun party type place, with a crazy, over the top dinner scene. This place was packed. I mean packed. The initial bar was overflowing with a big money uptown crowd with some seriously fun people watching going on. Facelifts everywhere. The restaurant is behind the bar, the room is big with big tables. The aisles in the first half of the place are jam packed, too packed to even walk for a while. And people are eating amidst this madness. Our table was situated farther back and we ate in relative peace. Service in both the bar and restaurant were surprisingly good. My filet was steakhouse quality, priced at $47 with no sides. Not as good as I've had, but it was a serious piece of flesh. Many meals on the menu priced in the low-mid twenties, which surprised me. This isn't my type of place, but it certainly can deliver a big night out if you're looking for that. but the place was beautiful in a Pastis kind of way, the crowd was electric (if a bit unusual and plastic looking), and the night was fun.  Place was a total, absurd scene. DJ was good, played Beatles and other tunes. Not a crazy club style DJ - it was a pretty girl in a suit. This was for Saturday night in October. Arrived 9:30 at its most packed. Did not sit down until 11pm. Will not go back but then again, I was dragged her from a friend. For those looking for this type of scene, it certainly delivers. Four stars.

Came here on a Saturday friends bday on a Saturday night when DJ zog was spinning. Good think we didnt have to park at the garage we parked literally in front of Big Pink's at the meter which u dont have to pay after 12. Mind u, we arrived at the club at around 11:30 and literally we were the first party there.. DJ was spinning and nobody was dancing..we were sitting for about 40 minutes before we got up and other people started coming in. You have a nice spacious dance floor and comfy seats..but pretty much it was empty on a Saturday night..i would guess about 80 people tops, so at least it wasnt crowded. Music was at first more old school hip hop until dj zog came played some better stuff. We didnt have to pay cover since were invited by the dj ..but guys its 10.00//now i dont appreciate that one of the girls who worked there was very pushy about buying shots...she came around 3 times when we told her no several times. If i want a shot..bitch ill ask for it! Now please let me be...so in the end she was trying to get rid of 3 shots and my boyfriend said only one for me, ok and she kept on insisting to buy 1 for me, him, and her..and my bf ended up buying a for me, for him, and for her. For her?? yeah she made us by her the $5.00 jello shot!!! I guess he didnt know how to say no and was trying to be nice, but honestly i think thats ridiculous.. we dont come to the club to buy the employee a shot! Yes the jello shots were good, a little melted but being too pushy is definitely not appealing. And it was the only way that she would go away. Honestly No means no to me and I dont care . I ordered two coronas at $7 each. I was dancing on the couches and jamming to music, and enjoying myself for a good while, but looking at the overall picture-the atmosphere..lack of audience, employees that work there, the fact that u have to pay 2.00 for tap water. Its not my first pick for a night out or celebration.

After about a 12 month hiatus, I went to Ecco last Saturday night and left wondering why I don't come more often. I'm going to echo everyone else and wax poetic about the fried goat cheese balls with honey and black pepper, because they really are THAT GOOD.  We also split the squid appetizer which was good, but could have probably used another 30 seconds in the pan to cook. I had the chili-braised pork with garlic and homemade pappardelle for my entree (which I LOVED) while my girlfriend had the semolina dumplings, winter squash, sage and brown butter which were good, but nothing great.  I liked that they put a lot of meat in my pasta as some places tend to skimp on the protein. We were adventurous and split the olive oil with sea salt and chocolate ice cream which was.......different, but very, very good.  I highly recommend for the bolder foodies. Everything about the restaurant is warm, inviting, cozy and oozes of good times all around (great wine, too).
