by Reggie Pascoe on I found this place to be a good place if you just want to have a good time without dealing with annoying bouncers or too many creepers. The best part is that there is no cover. Always a plus. Once you get in voila, it looks like an outdoor park like thing, complete with trees and shrubbery and all. Except the lighting was very creepy and weird... like that yellow lighting in a parking lot. Hm... Of course the dining area is dead at late night. The party is upstairs. So you come upstairs and find it to be packed. The music is so-so and the people there are generally friendly. Overall you will have a good time in this place and you meet some interesting individuals. In a good way. But there will always be that one trying to dance his way beside your friend.

B: Sign here. T: (In my head) WTF!? $7.80 gratuity!? Am I about to pay $47 for 2 drinks and a beer? I need to rateclubs about this shit. Bottom line, it's pretty bush league/borderline illegal to automatically charge 20% gratuity on some shit that's marked up 1000%. It's not like I was a party of 8. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about tipping folks in the service industry but I think this was a little excessive. At least wear a ski mask so I know I'm bouts to get jacked. BTW, if you let somebody in the club with a set of bongos so they can add their own soundtrack to the music, you automatically lose two stars in my book. I fucking hate that shit. The drunk Rastafarian they let up on the mic doing the Afrika Bambaataa-type spoken word over deep house beats and the fact that there were zero honeys in the spot also contributed to Cielo's 1-star score.
by alisha b. on I usually have good experiences at Middlesex but my Saturday night there was so bad that I will never go back there again. There was a line outside at 10pm with people waiting in the freezing cold to get in. The bouncers, rather than respecting the line and people waiting, let in their friends or "regulars" by the dozen who just breeze right in. I was waiting outside so long that I stopped being able to feel my toes. When a mere mortal such as myself politely asked why so many people were cutting the line and how long the wait would be, the bouncers rudely told me to shut up and back off. Let me reiterate, this is Middlesex, not Studio 54, and we are in Cambridge. Is it really necessary to make girls wait in the cold for an hour and then yell at them? Middlesex and its staff are so self-impressed its ridiculous.
