by George T. on Likes: Dress Code - I like that this place has a strict dress code (well sometimes apparently). tired of seeing people in their latest Express/ American Eagle gear. Guys, you have to wear dress shoes. Theme/ Decor - It what makes the Edison the Edison. Love that the staff wear 30's outfits. Best part is exploring the many rooms Contortionist - Great performance. Did 3 different performances through out the night Absinthe Fairy - really cool, even though its the worst tasting absinthe i have ever had Drinks - loved their original cocktails, but really pricey Parking - cheap parking nearby Dislikes: Music - so for the first hour or 2 the music is perfect. You want to hear jazz when you're buzzed. But now that you are on the drunker side, you want a bit of the newer hits, instead they played 80's music??? Pricey Seating space - we had a table going Which wasn't too hard to get, however for every person sitting was a minimum $25.
by Arlie Weidenheimer on I haven't been to all the venues in SF yet, but so far GAMH and The Independent are my favorites. I came to see The Album Leaf and Sea Wolf play here last Friday. It was a fun night, but I was just a little disappointed with the Album Leaf's set, unrelated to the venue, of course. They should have made better, more creative use of the Magik Magik string quartet that accompanied them in only a few of the songs. As far as the venue goes, I like the closeness of the stage to the floor. There were some tables along the front row, which worked for those of us in front because we got to put our drinks and jackets down. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff...not much to complain about.
