by Ha V. on New Year's Eve here was incredible. There was open bar service that we completely took advantage of. It was great that they didn't just serve cheap alcohol like most open bar events do. The bartenders were nice, the staff were helpful in flagging down taxis, and the crowd that night was fun. It's a great atmosphere. I was surprised that they were able to turn sleazy Boss into a more chic Manor West. I'd consider coming back to see if it was only this good because of New Year's.
by Lanny Houtz on I went after I convinced my friends that they could not bribe me at ANY cost to stay at the Red Room Lounge for one more second! (Whew!) We went down the street to see Cosmic Gate at Ruby Skye, despite the fact it was 30.00 a person to get in. Once inside the renovated Victorian style warehouse (it was nice to notice such details in the walls), an enthusiastic party vibe easily spreads across two floors of the space, but the main floor is geared toward the dancers (both go-go and the crowd kind) and the DJ's (for this night of course they were very center stage), while the top floor is to watch the show and scene unfolding. I rarely feel it necessary to comment on the "type" of club-goers because they change usually depending on the night. However, I will say I noticed a very broad spectrum of people, straight and gay, equal amount gender-wise, "old" and young, couples and groups. All seemed to have fun, and I met the metaphorical son of Jeff Buckley here, a moody handsome chap who was deep in the music, sweet in the eyes and soft in the soul. It's a pretty cool place.
