Movement and Play last year for me:  Wake up casually and refreshed.  Go for a little hike.  Eat wonderful breakfast.  Spend the day soaking up warm sun and even warmer people as I learned tons of new things - dancing, flow arts, massage, yoga, hooping, etc., etc.  Jump in the pond to refresh.  Eat nectarines.  Wonderful dinner.  Put on warmer clothes.  Dance to awesome sounds and watch fire.  Soak in wood burning hot tub.  Go to sleep happy. Even my boyfriend (who is NOT a dancer/spinner/yogi/flow arts kinda guy but decided to go last minute) had an amazing time and was almost more excited about going again this year than me!

Yoshi's If you have a refined taste for live music and good food, this place should be your new home! This is the THE PLACE to go for great concerts, food, and drinks. My first visit to Yoshi's was for a MINT CONDITION concert. The second time was for dine about town. The third time was for a JAKE SHIMABUKURO concert. This venue has great events lined up all the time. I highly recommend it for a great night out with friends and family. Being in the Fillmore district, it's great to explore other good eats places and take in the sights too. Parking isn't TOO bad. They have a parking lot for which they used to validate parking, but I don't think they do anymore. The jazz club is classy and actually fits a lot of people. However, with all the tables and the chairs, space is limited and can have you feeling cramped as you eat and try to enjoy the concert. I would recommend reserving seats ahead of time if you don't mind paying the extra fee. It will save you the time of having to find an open table that will seat your whole party. The nice thing is that I don't think there's a seat that doesn't have a good view of the stage. You are pretty close no matter where you sit and don't really have any obstructions blocking your view. The food is pricey but worth tasting. I've had the California rolls, which were pretty good. For dine about town, I had the seaweed salad, which is NOT your typical-green strands seaweed at sushi places. It was lush with green seaweed, manadarin oranges, and cucumbers (from what I remember), and dressed in a nice vinaigrette. The vegetable kakiage was also good with the dipping sauce. I never had it before so I can't compare it to anything. But it's basically a vegetable tempura pancake. Quite tasty. My main course was the miso braised short ribs. Very tender and tasty with shallots and carrots. The only problem was that it was a little cold since they brought it out before I was done with my appetizer. I would have liked to have eaten it when it was warmer. Dessert was absolutely delicious. I had a malted milk chocolate mousse cake. The malt balls gave a nice little crunch to the smooth mousse. Surprisingly, it wasn't overly sweet. I would definitely eat it again! I've also had their kobe burger (from the lounge/club menu) which was quite tasty as well. It's not a heavy burger that will leave you too full and uncomfortable. Overall, everyone should get the full Yoshi's experience, whether it's for a concert or dine about town. I want to try Yoshi's Oakland too! OH, you might get lucky and meet the artists after the concert. I was lucky enough to meet Jake Shimabukuro! He is AWESOME.
