I love black music.  I really do.  When Hip Hop Hooray comes on my Pandora, I instinctively wave my arms to one side and then point to the other side just like Naughty by Nature did in the video in 1994.  bOb has been doin' it and doin' it and doin' it for years...always authentic, always real, I feel like I'm the Jewish guy sweating it up in a real life version of that mural they show at the end of Good Times with Jimmy Walker, and yes the music is so kick-ass there's no way you will leave without saying Dy-no-mite. I'm now very thankful that I was that guy who watched countless hours of Yo! MTV Raps and got in the middle of dance circles at bar mitzvahs circa 1992 because when people huddle around me and yell "Go whiteboy", I can still represent. If you can't feel this spot, then I'm sorry, you just got no soul and I don't want to hang out with you.

I like the 3rd Floor Cafe, it's like many of the bars in K-town (or Korea Block, ha!)... anyway, it's so obscurely hidden in an office building/department store above the Galleria on 32nd Street, you have to walk past this security guard, who I'm not really even sure he's doing anything because anyone just saunters in past him anyway, haha! He better not be a government worker! So you take the elevator up to the... yep, you guessed, the Third Floor. Once you've survived those three trecherous flights up the tiniest elevator in the world, you reach the Third Floor. It's got high raised ceilings and wall to floor windows throughout, so it's super open, but nice and dimly lit, so you have kind of that intimate feeling. There's a couple seating areas separated by raised levels, and strange architectural (probably  more for the design affect than support) wall dividing the bar from the "dining tables". It's a fair size, there are a good number of tables, and some couches for the loungey feeling. It's pretty much your typical Korean bar, kind of trendy almost posh, but not too much where you feel stuffy. The best part about this place is the Tuesday night happy hour special from 5-8pm. All you can eat Fried Chicken, Don Kat Su (fried pork cutlet), Rice Cakes in pepper sauce, and Beer/House wine for $20 bucks. I mean c'mon.... that's awesome. I used to be able to take part in this when I was unemployed, so it was awesome, I wish the specials lasted until at least 9pm, so that I could make it after work, but probably best that they don't. Otherwise I'd be incapacitated for the remainder of the day. But a good place, at least try it out, c'mon that's a great deal. Warning: it's maddddd crowded especially when it's nice out, and when it's a school holiday (lots of college kids). Enjoy!

Concept, atmosphere and food (overall) is enough to get One Midtown Kitchen 5 stars even though the service was about a 2. If you are at all interested in getting drunk, OR if you'd like to sample a bunch of wines, it would pretty silly not to get the bottomless wine here. Here's how it works: a certain amount per person gets you as much wine as you'd like to drink from one of five price points, each of which has about a dozen wines including several varieties each of white, red, and rose, plus a sparkling wine and a dessert wine. The cheapest one is $22, which really, is worth it if you're going to have more than 3 glasses of wine. If you get a higher price point, though, you can have your pick of anything less expensive as well. That's a lot of choices. Another thing that's great about their wine concept is that you can order half-glasses as well. So if you'd like to try more wines on your bottomless, tell your server to bring you half a glass instead. Alternatively, if you don't want that much to drink, you can just order a half glass, the cheapest at $3, I believe. As for food, they have small plates at $8-11, a pizza or burger at $10, large plates at $19-26, and sides at $5-6. My boyfriend and I, both pescatarians, love to try as many things as possible and share, so this place is amazing for us. Over the course of the evening we ordered two small plates and three sides, and that plus one dessert to share was plenty of variety and plenty to fill our stomachs. We paired this with the cheapest bottomless wine, and ended up having about 4.5 glasses each. As my boyfriend put it, the cost was about as much as if each of us had ordered an appetizer, an entree, and a couple of drinks, but the experience was so much more interesting and satisfying. The food was by and large excellent. My favorites were the red snapper crudo and the truffled mac & cheese. Everything was good, though. Probably my least favorite ironically was the parmesan fries - they were just like the ones at Marlow's Tavern but a little drier and less cheesy (and therefore inferior). And though overtly trendy places are not usually my thing, I thought the decor was awesome, and was a large part of the lively, fun atmosphere. Super high ceiling, hanging a hundred or more dangling cylinders of light. Lots of tables, and a long curve of cushy half-booths down the center. The bathrooms are the individual rooms that have a red light that turns on when occupied. This is hands down my favorite style of public bathroom. But to add to this, the lighting IN the bathroom is neat - I used two different ones, the first was illuminated in red, the second in green. I can take or leave the entire wall of mirror, but at least it's the one behind the toilet so you're not forced to watch yourself pee. Also, there's a neat little lounge outside of the bathrooms, with a TV. There was never a line, but hey. One Midtown Kitchen somehow manages to pull off trendy without being pretentious. Impressive. Now onto the one negative. The service started out very promising. We had a 9:00 reservation but forgot that Batman is a 2.5 hour movie, so we didn't get out of that until 9:15. We called and they said no problem. All the hosts were extremely pleasant when we entered and showed us immediately to our table. Perhaps our tardiness was not a problem because the restaurant was not full the entire time we were there. I had never been there before, so I did not know whether this was something to be concerned about on a Saturday night - after all, the place is huge. But with Atlanta's restaurant industry being so fickle, I'm a bit nervous about losing such a great place so near my house. So we sat down, and our server was at first very nice. We asked for some water, we asked questions about the wine list, everything was great. But after it became clear that 1) we were going to order the cheapest $22 bottomless wine despite his attempts to get us to order the $32 one and 2) we were only going to order small plates and sides to share - the server suddenly turned downright cold. This perplexed me, as their menu seems set up for this type of dining (and indeed that is what makes it attractive to people like us who like to eat lots of little things!). But even more perplexing was the fact that cost (i.e. tip) wise, we HAD spent enough to cover two entrees and more. So we weren't even being that cheap. We had them call us a cab and let us know when it was ready - we just left our car in the valet lot overnight, which seemed perfectly fine with management. Anyway, even the server could not ruin my dining experience - it was just so much FUN to eat and drink there, how could I let some moodiness ruin my evening? I would recommend this place for a group of friends, a first date, a two-hundredth date, special occasions, out-of-towners, pretty much anything because it is more FUN than your average dinner out. Did I mention that it was FUN?
