Wow maybe this web site is bonkers or either people dont look at the location and state they are reviewing, seeing the fact that there are FILLIN STATIONS all over the united states.I have been a regular off and on at the FILLIN STATION in GREENWOOD,SOUTH CAROLINA and have always enjoyed the place. They've always seemed to have crowd mix from all aspects life.Everyone always seems pretty laid back. Its more of a bar and grill type place than a club, the other reason I like it.Don;t get me wrong I still enjoy a good club sometimes but grow tired of having to watch your back all the time or the bartender trying gig you on your drink or your change, its just a good place to kick back and relax with friends.Prices are very reasonable and the food has always been good. There are no famous slides of any kind,i see people dancing all the time but no salsa crap there, but hey you never know ive saw people doing some crazy things through the years.

The famous and wondrous Slide, how far you slid from expectation.  I first heard about this place on the Travel Channel show, Extreme Barhopping ( http://www.youtube.com...).  This place made Slide looks cool.  I knew I was going to be disappointed when I got stuck halfway down the slide (shoes, I guess).  The place is smaller than expected, the slide is shorter than expected, and on the whole just a lot less cooler than expected.  Bright spot?  No cover for me at 11:15p, not even a second glance at my sneakers.   Phew. My friend (female) took first round...$10 drinks - obvious to make up for no cover.  Second round on me, same drinks and some were now $11, some $12.  Not cool.  Not sure why I didn't run my mouth but I was with good company and having fun so I let it...slide (that's pun #2 if you're keeping track). My other friends call maybe 15-20m later, all 3 female, and apparently are told they have to be on the "guestlist" to get in.  So after reading all these reviews, I had decided this place was whack b/c there's clearly an unwritten rule where it's no cover before a certain time + must bring ladies.  Well apparently, time is all that matters now.  This place was packed with women though so if you're a guy and lucky to get in early enough, you'll likely enjoy yourself.   Maybe there were even too many girls there that night but I can't see how that would ever be an issue. Basically, moral of the story: this is the first place I've seen that actually turns women away at the door when it's not really a crowd issue.  So don't think that if you have boobs, you are entitled entrance (even though the other 99% of the time, you are).

This place makes it easy to rate. Give's you tons of ammo. 1. 40+ crowd. Walkers, rogaine, and oxygen tanks are allowed in the dress code. 2. akward dance floor before 12, as there are only grandpas and girl circles dancing. NOt to mention the lick you lips, sunglass wearing guys strategically looking for openings to jump in. 3. The sippy cup size drinks are in the average price range for places like this. 8 dollar house liquor drinks. 4. The music really isn't that great. If you're going to play older songs, at least play the classic ones! 5. The dance floor is small relative to the amount of people that come in. There are two rooms though, one for your salsa, tipico, merengue music and another room of mostly hip-hip and top 40. 6. I'd like to stay away from places with the full body search. ** 2 stars - If your night plans are to go out dancing with good music and a good vibe, there are nice Salsa places all over the city. Soffrito has a great mix of older and younger crowds but it's a great time. Something just feels off about this place and I'm not sure which trumps the rest. Take a look at the other reivews on rateclubs. They're overwhelmingly on the lower end of the scale. It's probably a telling sign.. Not horrible but meh, I've experienced better.
