by Tequila Lewi on should be my kind of place: intimate, minimalist, sexy and sophisticated. however, the crowd begged to differ and the bouncers were your typical bouncer a-holes. i hate starting a night out annoyed at powerhungry bouncers and hostesses. please get over yourselves. thanks. its always awkward to go to a bar/lounge with no dancefloor because people are bound to dance and squeezing past them is gross. luckily, theres the vip level and that bit of privacy plus the decor gives it a 3 since sf's been kind of lacking lately..
by Aide Homburg on The latest trend place, like what the Standard Hotel was, for partying and dressed up people. The room is more for continuing the partying or get your snooze on. Had a corner suite on the 11th floor overlooking Hollywood Blvd. It's more your sterile stark furniture place, remember this is a very old hotel that's been renovated. Wood floors that echo your footsteps. An extremely large separate room for lounging and partying (sofa, coffee table, dining table, etc), another large room for the bed & desk... however, EXTREMELY small bathroom that just fits in a tub/shower, toilet at the end along with a sink. No place to put any of your toiletries. It was horrible trying to put make up on. Had to do it in the bedroom where there is poor lighting (no make-up table set up there yet they had the space for it ) so had to walk back and forth to the bathroom sink mirror. Both my bf and I killed our shins on the wood corner bed frame that stuck out. Ouch! On the other hand, great location. You really get to see a side of Hollywood Blvd you don't see when you drive through or just visit. The valet staff there is very very nice and efficient. They go out of their way to make sure the passenger door is opened as well as the driver side. Good late nite room service (a must for all the late night parties) - had veggie and turkey burgers with sweet potato fries at 5:30AM.
by Betsey L. on buddha bar is not a restaurant conducive to dinner conversation....bc the music played there is so darn LOUD. my friends and i had to YELL across the table to one another bc it was so loud. like seriously? can you turn the volume down a few notches? so not only did my eardrums practically burst and my vocal chords shot, but i think my body went into shock from the amount of sodium that was contained in the dishes we ordered. short rib plus others, i don't remember (food was not memorable). the beef i ordered contained as much sodium as the dead sea. so much sodium my fingers became bloated and looked like pickles. ok ok, exaggerating. place would be good for drinks/people watching....great decor and ambiance....but don't bother going there for food. you can get better food at a fraction of the price from chinatown. and your eardrums would remain in tact.
