Bruno's epitomizes the late night loungy feel that I am so fond of. As other shyed away from the ten dollar cover we kicked in and drank up to the beats that were being thrown down featuring streaming hip hop by the DJ in the main room. Entering you will find stairways leading to an lounge area with bar, sadly it was closed for a private event. Delve deeper and veer to the left and another bar with no wait for drinks presents itself. Bartenders offer a choice of liquor depending on your preference. Vodka Gratefruits were on point and strong! Return to the main room where a shot bar offering Patron for 9 dolla swallows teases the tequila lover in us all. Never worry about where to find liquor due to the abundance of al al al cohol up in here. Plenty of seats along the wall in a "cush" type chill setting. Lights slowly dimmed as the night progressed and the main room becomes crowded with the steady flow of pretty people. Get stamped and move on to other bars. Won't have a problem getting back in. Gotta love the Mission!

(Yes - I AM squeezing two reviews out of one place - shamelessly!) I have been to 111 Minna on a number of occasions and found it... OK. It's always fun to mix alcohol, conversation, and art - as the liquor flows, everyone suddenly becomes an expert on Dali, and no matter what you say, people are too mellowed-out to disagree. However - I have never been too wowed by this place, finding that it really never had the... edge that an exciting gallery/bar should have. In fact, I could say that is usually seemed somewhat dull. That is - until I went to the rateclub event, where the venue really seemed to shine. The place was light and air and not stuffy, as these events can be. Although it was crowded, I never felt harassed, in anyone's way and it was easy to navigate across the floor. The bar staff were great - as good as I have seen at this kind of event. Fast and courteous - friendly - cheeful even, especially given that they were, literally, giving it away. The only weird thing was when the event was over - at around 10:00. They seemed to have made the decision to chuck out the 200 folks who were hanging around, with the news that they could pay a cover to come back in! WTF. Most did not. In fact, very few did. Surely, everybody (both club and clientele) would have been happier if they had simply announced that we could stay but that the drinks would no longer be free. Hmmm?
