by P A. on First of all, the Minx is closing. Tonight (11/6/10) is it's last night in business and all of Glendale should drink a toast to its demise. I made the mistake of buying a Minx $50 gift certificate for half price and recently went there with my family for the early bird dinner. Yes, we are cheap. The Minx has a cool website, which promotes a 3-course early bird dinner for $20. Unfortunately, they forgot to tell our waiter, who knows nothing about it and says the early bird is not available. To make amends, he offers us half price off a bottle of wine and points to an $100 bottle on the wine menu. No thanks, I say. We order maragaritas. Ordering off the main menu, my wife inquires about the salmon. The waiter tells us they're out of salmon. Okaaayyyy. Then how about a delicious Minx hamburger? They're out of that too. That's three strikes in my book, so we get up and go, leaving our drinks untouched. The next day we call the restaurant to complain and leave messages for the manager, who doesn't return our calls. Two days later, my wife gets a waitress on the phone who eventually confesses the Minx is closing. Which means we are likely stuck with that $50 gift certificate. The restaurant is in a terrific location and I hope its not empty for long. Another Rusty Pelican, China Bistro, El Torito, ANYTHING could do well there, even a Denny's. Just skip the phony wannabe west side nightclub approach.
