After hearing about Ecco for months and months I finally went last night with some friends. As it was for an event, I can't comment on door nazi's or the like, but we had no problem getting in. As I entered, I am not sure that the interior was exactly what I expected. I get the whole recycled ecco-friendly vibe they are going for, but I found the club to look rather cheap! The dance floor was small, although the multi changing ceiling lights were cute (reminded me of Area.) The areas for table service seemed half ass and not so comfortable. I did like the color changing balls on the wall. The music was good, the usual typical top 40 music mixed, mashed, and the like. People seemed to enjoy the music all in all and were grooving on the tiny dance floor. The outside patio is kind of half hazard and small. Seems like they literally took a bunch of plants in plastic pots from Osh and placed them in the patio. The patio wasn't lit all too well either and I would hate to be the people that lived in the apartment complex that served as Ecco's patio wall! If I had to wait/try and get into this club and have to actually pay, I would have been pissed! I do not think I would come back to this club if it wasn't for free.

This place is nice. It was too bad that I went with awkard people to dine here. They were both friends but didn't like each other. But that's another story. It has been a few months since I've been here but I will give its very well deserved review from my last experience. Top Floor is a great place to have a drink and a bite to eat late at night in Atlanta. We got here around 2 am and the bar was empty because people were in other rooms so we got served pretty quickly. The staff were pros but the DJ's music was way too loud for the confined space. Sound check anyone? We ordered our beers and then to our meals. One of my friends didn't eat and the other ordered a hanger steak. I ordered the duck confit. The food came out quickly for being so late and packed we were impress. We also started with an order of white pea hummus which was amazing btw. Anyway, the food came quickly and I was quick to steal a bite of the hanger steak. OMG, I've never had better other than a kobe steak. The hanger steak rivals a well cooked filet mignon and it fetched a very decent price. I should have ordered it. On to my duck confit. Delicious! I don't get much duck out of our traditional Vietnamese cuisines so seeing it cooked confit was exciting. Despite the loud and bad music... everything else was great and I definetly will stop by next week when I am in town.

Plus they now have "Ask Dr. Hal" on Wednesday nights... We used to go there on Fridays, it was like Cheers for the hip gothic crowd. They used to have good food - but I haven't eaten there in 7 years - so I can't speak for their current menu.
