I went to this club in October for a friend's bachelorette party. In hindsight I should have left as soon as I walked in. I have been to many clubs, concerts and bars throughout the years, but this was by far the painfully loudest club I have ever been to. Our bodies vibrated with every beat of the bass and it was LOOOUUUD. I stayed because we had worked so hard to get in, and the six other girls I was with wanted to stay. We all left the club with painfully loud ringing in our ears. And to this day I still have ringing in my ears. I have irreversible tinnitus and it is absolutely awful - all because of this place. Now going out to normal noise level bars and clubs is painful for me. Even the TV hurts my ears. I hear this ringing everyday - all day. If you dare go here - wear ear plugs. Where those headphone things landscapers and construction workers wear! I can't stress it enough. They should be offering ear plugs at the door - the noise level should be illegal...... This place has negatively affected my quality of life for years to come if not forever. I can't stress it enough -- protect your ears. Besides the noise, the music is good, lighting effects are cool, DJ booth is cool, service is snooty. I will never ever go back.

Whoever thought of this concept is a friggen genius! Haven't been to the Academy since I was what, 12? Through the recommendation of a few friends who've been to past events here, I made it one of my goals to complete before summer ends. I got the green light for it when my manager said she and a few of my co-workers wanted to check it out. I spread the word to a few of my friends and we were set. The DJs rotate every week. This week in particular had one that played 80s music (yessss). The drink specials also rotate, I believe. Last night's was the Tropic Thunder (apple vodka, blue curacao, and lemonade, deelish!). Early arrival is highly suggested because: 1. Parking is a b*tch. If you can't find any on the street, you can fork over $11 to park in the underground garage. 2. If you didn't buy your tickets online, you gotta get in line for the ticket window, then proceed to #3 which is... 3. The line for ticket holders. This line can be crazy long!  However, it does move quickly. Just have your ticket(s) and ID out already to speed up the process. Speaking of long lines, the line for the ATM can be pretty ridonkulous as well. FYI the bar and food areas accept cash only. Don't say I didn't warn you, because I did! The aquarium and the Philippine reef exhibits were amazing. I have to remember next time to check out the Rainforest exhibit because it closes early. The best part of the night for me was going up to the Living Roof just as the sun was setting. I got in a few pictures before it went dark. Dress code is pretty much up to you. From what I saw, it ranged from casual to "Hey is this the line for XS"? Whatever works I guess. I asked my homegirl if I should request something to the DJ. She told me to go for it, and whaddaya know, they took it. Who knew Bizarre Love Triangle could bring a bunch of people together? After that song came on, the floor was poppin' until the end. You're welcome. ;-)

A simple place, so it gets a simple review. I come here to watch football, so I don't drink alone. The pitchers cost about $14 bucks, and it'll get you three-five beers The TVs are nice, but the projector needs work.  They put the niner game on without being asked, much to the chagrin of the rowdy Irish guys sitting in the corner.  The Irish guys move this bar up from a 3 to a 4 star because they all get super trashed and talk some crazy trash.  If there's no one there on a Thursday night, one of 'em will open up the pool table, and you'll play for free.  The free beef stew and bread they had for the Monday night niner game was super good.
