In devoted obedience to my stomach I have finally answered the call to taste the burger offerings from Mr. Flay. And despite my dislike for the chef I will certainly appreciate his food. Ambiance: Southwestern modern to put it best. The bright southwestern color scheme would be almost garish if it weren't paired with sleek and modern furnishings. You can seat yourself at tables when you roll in strong with a crew or if you are flying solo you can eat in peace at a curvy countertop. Service: With smiles abound I would say it's definitely going through the opening week jitters of upbeat, friendly and sometimes nervous service. All of which were appreciated and endearing. There was nothing to lack in the service. We'll just have to see if it passes the test of time and the often stuck-up and demanding patronage of Penn undergrads.... Food: Hello LA Burger! This was delicious and while I doubted the "crunchified" (chips in burger) recommendation I am glad that I gave it a try. The added texture of the potato chips was a welcome addition and contrast to the rest of the burger. The burger comes dressed with guacamole relish (really just tasty guacamole...didn't taste the "relish") and watercress in place of lettuce. The watercress-lettuce exchange isn't perceivable in flavor but makes for a less "crunchy" texture which can be made up some by "crunchifying" your burger. Now...the most important part... the meat. Oh baby. Here is where Flay has got it right. Juicy, REALLY flavorful but not oversalted and cooked perfectly to an ACTUAL medium... And I'm not sure how the Iron Chefs are perfecting their methods but one thing I notice similar between the Garces' Village Whiskey Burger and Flay's Burger is the ability to cook the burger to the perfect temperature without searing/burning the crap out of the outside of the patty... I mean I like a good black and blue time to time but I personally find it unpleasant to have to crunch through an almost carbonized outside layer to get to the juicy treasure within. The fries were decent. A good size/amount. Crisply fried outside while soft and fluffy on the inside. My partner's sweet potato fries and accompanying honey mustard were the star of the fries show... One thing I really appreciated was the entire half pickle that came with my burger. I love pickles and more is always better. One thing I expected more of and recommend more of... the HEAT!!! Come on Bobby! You always talk about your love of spice. The array of sauces were tasty but nothing close to even a bit spicy ... Drinks: My lunch time excursion had me play it safe with a fountain drink but I am pleased to see a nice offering of alcoholic beverages of spiked milkshakes, margaritas, beer and wine. I'll be back to sample the beers, margaritas and milk shakes. Overall, delicious and for 13 bucks it was a flavorful and filling lunch meal with pleasant service without the hullabaloo of complete table-waitered service. I know this is a franchise concept but this whole hot sauce issue needs to get worked out... otherwise I'm going to have to come back armed with my own arsenal... I think some Jamaican scotch bonnet will do these burgers good...

This club is awesome because they attract world class DJ talent like Tiesto, Benny Bennassi, Ferry Corsten, Above and Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, etc. That automatically gives it 3 stars. Ruby Skye has one of the best sound systems as well, however, their dancefloor is small. The crowd that comes here is pretty relaxed. The drinks are good and strong. I haven't had to wait in ridiculously long lines either. IF they have special events, they go all out with the decor. WHen I saw Ferry Corsten, they went all out with this Alice and Wonderland theme for Halloween. I was blown away. Overall, if you love trance, this is the club for you!
