by Jenna R. on First and foremost, Geno's is not as good as Pat's. Period. Second, Geno's seems to be the cheese steak restaurant for the xenophobic, racist crowd of Philadelphia, which is a huge turn off for me. I cannot endorse patronizing a restaurant whose owner is a bigoted racist. I think it's highly inappropriate that there are signs and bumper stickers all over about their requirement for "Ordering in English only" and "Freedom Fries." The entire existence of this place was a huge turn off. And, their steaks just weren't as good as Pat's. I can kindly say my mom paid for this, so I feel good about not giving them my own money, but the food was not good. The steak was tough and completely flavorless. The roll was enormous so there was just bland steak and bread to eat. The only flavor was the Whiz, which is always good, but still. We even got onions on the steak and couldn't taste them. Odd. Don't go here. At all. It may seem tempting from across the street when you're at Pat's, but you'll definitely thank yourself for staying at Pat's and never giving Geno's a dime. Xenophobia is disgusting and these people should be put out of business. Quickly.
by Dru A. on I go regularly on Sunday for RockBand game night. SUPER fun. It's FREE and beers are $3 until 9pm. They have a million songs and good sound/equipment. Depending on turn-out, they host a little competition-- otherwise the instruments are just open/free all night: 7-9pm: warm-up 9-11pm: tournament 11pm-???: anyone can play anything If you come with a set band, feel free to go down there by yourself and you'll get matched up with a group. Nice, friendly staff and patrons. Excellent DJ this night. UPDATE 05/24/10: They don't have Rockband anymore. Cry. A few of the patrons that frequented that night are trying to hold it last Sunday of the month at Fly bar (a block down Sutter) and so far it has been good!
