I'm a sucker for rooftops.  Love them.  The fresh air.  Fantastic views.  Feeling like you're on top of the world (at least for the moment). Medjool has the rooftop and stunning night views of the city (as well as some clear glass plates... to keep jumpers and drunk people at bay?).  Not very many places in SF offer that coveted rooftop option. Because of this, I can forgive it the insanely long bathroom lines (you're better off holding it), subpar drinks and slow service.  (And this was all before 9pm... People were still eating and it wasn't even packed yet.) I'd recommend it for the view alone or a quick pit stop on a bar crawl... 3 stars may seem generous, but that's how much I love rooftop bars with nice views. Make your way to the elevator, go up, enjoy it and come back down.  Done and done!

This place nearly has it all, as the drink options range from beer to champagne, along with some nice food options that are served until 1am.  The lounge area upstairs have couches that are comfortable and convenient. Downstairs is a small dance area that plays an assortment of music, as well as another bar area to order drinks. Overall, it's a place to have fun and relax, or to let it all go on a weekend.  There is no cover and the line to get in will start to grow around 10:30-11pm.  This place to me is a place to drink, dance, and/or relax, as I wouldn't go here to eat dinner.  See you there next time!

Did I just enter a Michael Mina establishment? Or a new, funkified version of Burger King for the Sunset Strip? I came here for a happy hour and both my date and I had the same thing, the Kobe Burger. After having it at Daniel Bouloud's place in Vegas, I figured it would be something along the same lines. Was i ever wrong! Instead of a thick burger like you get everywhere else, this is two thin charbroiled burgers on a brioche bun. The bun was cool but the burger? Just reminded me that I just got a glorified Double Whopper. It wasn't bad but compared to the ones I like on Hollywood Blvd. (25 Degrees, Lucky Devils, Blue Palms) this pales in comparison. What was cool were the fries which came in three little silver cups in three different flavors with three different dipping sauces. This I could've just had by itself. Worse yet, when the bill arrived, both me and my date got charged the regular $27 for the burger instead of the happy hour $17 price. Am I glad I always check my receipts! You have to! Fortunately, the staff is really nice and extremely apologetic, However, at a place like a Mina joint, you just don't expect it. Don't think I'll be coming by here too often with all the other choices in SoCal.
