I'm not too sure about this club...the bouncer that greeted us was very friendly though. We payed $10 each for cover because my friend had a coupon. Not sure how much it would of been without the coupon, and honestly I don't really want to know. The first thing I noticed was the nice red interior that glowed through out the walls of the club. There was a neat looking disco ball above the middle of the dance floor that lit up and shined all night long to lead the people to dance on. I really liked the happy Buddha that was above the right side by the bar. The music that night...I really have no idea what that was about, honestly speaking. I felt like that the DJ and the music was confused if it should be underground House music trying to be Electro but at the same time trying to add some Electronica but with more weird House of the same rhythm pattern going for 3 hours. The dance floor was pretty much empty when we got there at about 11pm at night. More people came after 12 am, but not much to be considered a full house. The floors were sticky and lopsided and a but dirty. I asked the bartender if he could make me a Gummi Bear but he had no clue of what it was. I told him what it was and thanked me and told me he was going to remember it for future reference. I ended up getting a super sweet margarita that tasted like it was made from a bottled margarita mix with the lowest quality of tequila that my good friend payed $9 dollars. I thought it was a bit expensive. The parking structure is really bad! Parking was about $15 bucks that night....why? I bet at some nights it's $10 or they might even spike it up to a higher amount. They only accept cash to pay cover at the front. They accept credit/ATM at the bar. Will I come here again? Not sure...not really planning on venturing around here again...

This review is specifically for DJ ROMEO COLOGNE and the Tuesday funk night.  I could honestly care less about any other night at Star Bar. With a name like that, you KNOW he's funky.  This man is brilliant on the turn tables.  I dance the entire time, (taking breaks for drinks of course) and with enthusiasm.  There's Stevie, Jackson 5....maybe disco shit thrown in....by the end of the night I am covered in sweat.  And when you need a break from the dancefloor there's another bar downstairs with different music and an outdoor patio for smoke breaks. I have woken up many times the next morning with mystery bruises and sore muscles.  I miss this night more than anything else in ATL.  And I'm never going to find an apt replacement.

At this point it seems almost pointless to even put another review, because it seems that everything that could be said has been said.  Then I thought about making up a story to share with everyone about my rock star days when I used to play the GAMH, but I think I'm getting sleepy...  sooo ask grandma on another day.  Anyway, the venue's great and big and beautiful and its an awesome place to see some local bands.  Sure you're in the Tenderloin, but hey, I've walked around there by myself.  In the crouching tiger position, of course.  Its not so bad.   Learning to be in a state of ready alert is good practice if you ever move to NYC, I heard it can get a tiny bit rough there. Don't let Coyote Ugly fool you.  Got a nice offer from two homeless guys to sit and have a beer with them.  C'mon, with offers like that, and great venues like the GAMH, how could you even think of leaving the bay?
