by Dennis S. on I checked out Ruby Skye for the Pharcyde/ Souls of Mischief concert. If people didn't hype this venue up so much, I might have been impressed. When I arrived, I just felt like I was in an old theater. Drinks were not as expensive as people wrote, $10 bucks for mixed drinks (Stoli/ Jack and soda) and $13 for an AMF (It's expected in the city).
by Roger Laninga on Trudy's, can you come to LA? I've been on the hunt for good Tex-Mex food for a long time and I was very satisfied with this place. We all got enchiladas and tacos and the Mexican margarita and everything was sooo good. It was that kind of good where you are about to explode cuz you're so full but you refuse to stop the fork to mouth momentum. We were pretty much immobile post-face stuffage cuz we were so full. Beached whale status. After you're ready to move on from that mental image... the margarita was good and is like this eternal fountain of liquid. I think the whole thing totals like 8-9 rounds in your martini glass. And even the waiters are really cool- super attentive and friendly, further reminding me that I was not in LA. Ah! I want Trudy's.. Right. Now. I recommend.
by Johnny Bergey on hmm. why is this place so popular? why is there a line at 10:30 PM? i ventured to ella last weekend and had to wait in line in the freezing cold for about 5 minutes. we were ushered right in after the bouncer realized we were five girls with no dudes tagging along. ok so the decor is pretty cool- reminded me of (the now defunct) gin lane with the cool old school mod look and the impeccably dressed bartenders. it was super crowded in there and they really need to light the staircase that leads to the area downstairs because it was pitch black and i was worried i would go tumbling down. i'm fairly good at navigating stairs having lived in NYC for two years now, but this was ridiculous. they've got a potential lawsuit on their hands.
