Want a four-long long, expensive evening of hell?  XIV is your place! Michael Minna, go visit this restaurant as a customer and then kick some ass in line or get your name off this place.  I have good reason to be pissed..read on. Let's get the two good things about XIV out of the way: the decor is cool and the sweet potato bisque was really good. The only great thing about the night XIV can't take credit for, because it was the friends I was with. Now here are four reasons to avoid this restaurant, starting with #4 and building to the #1 reason why my fiance threatened to call the cops on them... #4 The Seating: FAIL ...It took more than AN HOUR to be seated.  WTF?? #3 The Food - FAIL ...When you go to a place expecting to pay $100 a person, I would expect FANTASTIC food.  Very surprisingly - because I've been to a Michael Minna restaurant before and was wow'd - the food was boring and not very good (except for the sweet potato bisque).  It was bland and very hit-or-miss.  I could have made a better salad than the boring garden salad $14) I had.  For an entree, I had the black cod ($33), and it was single medium sized piece of fish (unflavored, just plain) with a small mini-jar of some pudding-like stuff. I didn't even know what the pudding stuff was - but it was incredibly salty - until the waitress told me it was miso hollandaise.  I had to smother the fish with it to taste anything. #2 The Service - MEDIOCRE ...Where is our waitress?  She was nice, but erratic in our ability to get her attention.  And weird delivery decisions: we ordered some french fries (listed as "sides" in the menu), and we found out after the appetizers came - no fries - that they were going to bring the sides with the entrees?  I'm sorry, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that friends, like bread, come first. #1 The Valet - FAIL FAIL FAIL!!  (AN HOUR WAIT?!) ...Have you ever waited outside in the freezing cold for an hour waiting for a valet to get your car?  Many people did this night.  I don't know what was going on, but the valet service was completely screwy.  We walked outside before midnight after dinner (by the way, we arrived at 8:30 for an 8:30p seating, so it's been a LONG night already)...AND WE - INCLUDING FRIENDS - DIDN'T GET OUR CAR UNTIL 1am!   Are you kidding me?  There was some huge pileup of people waiting for cars (15, 20?), and it seemed like the valets were just MIA.  It was impossible to understand what the problem was, because it really wasn't very busy - it was the same crowd of people standing around waiting for cars.  The service was retarded.  We'd ask them, "is our car on the way?" They'd say: "Yes, the key is gone, so it is coming".  20 minutes later, we'd ask, "Where is our car?"  Their response: "The key is gone, so it must be on the way."  (Plus, lots of other people are having this same experience with us - we weren't the only ones).  This is why, after an hour of asking questions, waiting, bitching with the other people out there, my fiance went and threatened to call the cops on them if they couldn't produce our car key and walk us to the car.  And suddenly, magically the car appears... WTF? Anyway, if you can't tell, the XIV experience was terrible in many ways, and it's even worse considered it's supposed to be a high end place. Michael - get your name off that place!!

Great venue. Visited on a Friday night and a Wednesday night. Not quite as busy on Wednesday but the Friday crowd was friendly, intelligent, and attractive. Had a great time here before heading out to Rain on 4th a few doors down.

Halo for the Alpha Phi Angels!!  Went to ATL, visiting my best friend. The first bar we hit when I landed was this place.  Immediately surrounded by an entourage of post-frat guys boys.  We knew we were in it for a down-dirty-sorirty-girls-bar-hoppin'-FUN!  The bar has semi 2 floors, with the top floor being dance floor where the DJ locates.  But my favorite is the bottom area near the entrance, the decor is dark gray, very chic, very minimalist. We tried their claim-to-fame drink: pomogranate martini, which was super yummy and super strong.  Then the boys who took picture for us ended up buying us drinks.  We met a set of twins: one from ATL and the other from SF...just our luck.  Us gals got bored, they bought us drinks and we delivered the classic line: we're going to the bathroom.  And I guess we never went back there, oopsies, who did that??  **Didn't help that we ran into the same boyz on the street while walking our dog the next day**
