I love Trudy's. It's my favorite Tex-Mex in Austin and a must for everyone, especially college kids. I don't drink, so I can't attest to any of that. However, the food is great! I usually get the chicken fajitas with refried black beans. Delicious! The few times I have had something else, like the stuffed avocado or tacos, I have been just as happy. The service has always been great. The waitstaff is friendly, attentive and engaging. The downside for this Trudy's location is the wait. The wait time can be more than an hour at peak times (7pm-9pm) and they do not seat incomplete parties. However, it's almost always worth the wait.

Just a delightful little venue. I don't know why I haven't written about until now....oh wait, I was was bit tipsy, and don't remember half of what I do there. (+1 star from the get-go!) First off I like the area, quiet and relatively safe. A fact more appreciated when you and yours are leaving rather than going. But nonetheless a quality point. Depending on what's happening, the cover is reasonable.  The ambiance is fun too. Lots of clever lighting, feels very industrial with the fun 2nd floor/balcony/perch thing going. Kinda reminds me of a campaign in Starcraft. ;) Bootie plays mashups there a couple of times a month, which are always fun mix of hip and nostalgia. I highly recommend. So if you're down in that area of SOMA some evening, why not give it a whirl. ...oh and to the two ladies who tried to "take me home" that one evening, capital effort! Maybe next time! Ha! What a night!

Great American Music Hall is definitely a smaller, unique space.  There are classic balcony seats, gorgeous detailing throughout, and clean bathrooms on the main floor.  (Note: Only single/private stall on main level.)  I went there for the Ingrid Michaelson concert and had no problems finding parking in the sketchy area a couple of hours before the show. As a first-timer, I wish someone would have told me to go upstairs and get a nice side balcony seat.  I usually love standing on the floor, but the concert goers were like none other this time.  If left for a second to pee and came back to find that my spot had been eaten up, even though Mr. O was fighting to hold it for me.  People are pushy and won't let you back in.  There was this one man literally create a human wall just so I couldn't get back to my place. In the end, the lack of air and pushing bodies got the best of me.  As a shortee, I couldn't see anyway.  I walked to the waaaay back where I could sing and dance freely! If you decide to stand on the concert floor, stand in the center front and you'll be lucky enough to feel the AC.  Otherwise, you're SOL.  :)
