by Frederic Polacek on Thanks to my buddy's older brother running the event, we got whisked inside without paying, or waiting in that mob of a crowd outside -- via private VIP entry off to the side. AND we had access to the STAGE all night! It was wild. Nothing crazier than being able to enter two guarded VIP-only bar and lounge sections and also being able to get onto the massive stage where the DJ is spinning and dancing in front of hundreds of wasted party-goers. It was a good mix of electronica and rock music. Came here when Busy P (the manager of Daft Punk) came to spin for the night. Good stuff. As a venue, it didn't get any more stars because I'm more partial towards smaller and more tightly run clubs such as Opera, where they don't pack what seems like a thousand people into the venue, making it unbearably crowded. For a Hollywood dance club, it's got a very Vegas-style setup with tons of space to move around and soaring ceilings (I'd say they're about 45 feet and higher in the main dance area). It's very big in square footage, but the main public areas get so crowded it's almost unbearable to make your way through the sea of bodies. Thank God for having the option to escape to the VIP areas from all the chaos...otherwise I would've ranked it a few stars lower. Pros: Lots of bar areas; huge projector screens and great lighting effects; excellent sound system. Cons: Way too big, main stage feels like a concert hall; 18+ night; unattractive crowd.
by Renato Hadden on While I can't image that this is a place that celebs frequent (worn cushions and bar surface, dated decor), it was great for a recent charity fundraiser event for my organization. Around 300 guests were able to mix and mingle without too much crowding, and the perimeter of the crowd had plenty of room to spare for a breather. It was just enough extra room that you also didn't feel like there weren't enough people there. The bartenders were fantastic - I didn't hear any complaints about not getting enough drinks. Very experienced and very fast. To manage the flow a bit we also placed waitresses with pre-made drinks around the crowd. I think that helped to minimize the swarm of people at the bar. I would only recommend Tenjune for an event during the warmer seasons as there is absolutely no room to check guests in but outside the front door. Otherwise it would have to be down the stairs and in the hallway - in the path of quests going to and from the restroom and amidst blaring music. Being outside worked out fine for us as we had a quiet space to sell tickets and check people in and the weather was nice. I could see that being miserable if it were cold or rainy or something. Tenjune helped us to make our event a success and to inspire long-term support from young New Yorkers. How do I know? I can't count how many times I was asked: "When is the next event?"
by MTL L. on 240/night 28/per valet parking/day Hotel staff was in general very attentive, proactive, and helpful. The room's decor was very modern. Black and white type of look. AC was a little loud. Lounge area was very nicely decorated. The general decor of the hotel was a little dark and not well lit. Guess it's by design, but I would have prefered a more well lit place.
