I live in the neighborhood and I was very excited to see a new restaurant coming into this previously dilapidated and empty space. Then, I found out it was a Viet Namese place ... Now, don't get me wrong - I LOVE Viet Namese food, but you can't swing a cat in this neighborhood without hitting a VietNamese restaurant - and good ones at that! As the other reviewer said - the official opening day is set for April 12th and the analogy of this being "like a Banana Republic dropped on a flea market" is completely correct. Le Viet is SLICK inside - gorgeous, in fact, if dark wood, dim lighting, and clean lines are your thing. I also agree with the other reviewer that the food was OK, we ordered some pretty standard fare (vermicelli, grilled, pork, etc.) and also a chicken cooked in a clay pot. The clay pot dish was outstanding and really exceptional - everything else - more or less the same. However, Le Viet has its neighbors beat by miles if fancy presentation and square plates are appealing to you. Everything was really pretty and fancy and fun. I had a good time and the service was really trying - with some misses, however. For instance, we tried to order some VietNamese sodas that we order regularly at Nam Phuong and the waiter seemed to be quite confused. We ended up with some pretty awful  and inaccurate drinks, but we were not charged. When the liquor license kicks in - I could see this place as having a lively bar scene. How cool would it be to get a good cocktail, some good Viet Namese food, and be in a "nightlife-type" atmosphere? I think pretty cool. This will be my special occasion VietNamese place.

Want to know the best part about Golden Temple? It is not greasy. Not even a little bit. How can it be Chinese food without the grease?? Blasphemy! Well listen up kids, because grease it out and crunchy goodness is in. No longer do you have to sop up your greasy and chewy lo mein noodles and hope that you don't have a coronary before the dessert menu. No longer do you have to wonder what it's like to have REAL crab in crab rangoons, instead of mountains of cream cheese and a smidgen of crab. No longer do you have to be saddened by weak and tiny spare ribs, but instead be greeted by gigantic portions of delicious meat that is tough yes tender enough to be eaten with relative ease. Yes, the place is a little more expensive than your traditional Chinese takeout. But this isn't takeout kids, this is some fine HEALTHY cooking. Never thought you would see THAT in the same sentence as Chinese food eh? I love everything about Golden Temple, from the minimalist decorations, to the gigantic menu. Kudos for offering smaller portions as well on multiple dishes. The crab rangoons are excellent, even though I have to admit, I do like some extra cream cheese in my ragoons. Everything that was fried was crispy and light, not heavy and greasy like so many other places. They serve family style, which can be a little awkward and space-consuming, but I'm OK with it. The service is always pleasant. If you are sick and tired of greasy Chinese food, then Golden Temple is your place!
